Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Military Move was rated ahead of midfield and three deep without cover, rounded the final bend four deep, swept to the lead at the 200m and kept on nicely for the win. He's really come right on the dirt. Helene Spirit settled fourth and one-off the fence, straightened four deep and ran on well to gun down Just Fantastic 30m out for second with the switch to the dirt. Well-punted at the jump, Flashing Aura was patiently ridden, cornered with one wider out and ran on strongly to edge Just Fantastic in the final stride for third. He was the only one to make ground with a first crack at the mile. Just Fantastic stalked the leader Best Fit in second and whacked on well to just miss a placing. Specked late, Best Fit went straight to the front through even fractions, straightened a length on top and was giving way over the final 100m. He didn't see out the mile. Adoration enjoyed the box-seat run, was left flat-footed at the head of the straight and kept on OK near the inside. Free Judgement made his run fourth from the rear and three deep, cornered in with two wider out and made only minor headway. Endless Luck made his run in midfield and on the rails and was never a factor with money pouring in late.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine: (220) - THE PENINSULA GOLDEN JUBILEE CHALLENGE CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 1 - 1650 Meters OLE OLE was steadied away from the heels of JUST FANTASTIC at the start.

HANDSOME ZULU began awkwardly.

From wide barriers, IMPERIAL ROME and ELITE OF CHIU TON were taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

Near the 100 Metres, ADORATION was shifted in away from the heels of BEST FIT.

Throughout the race, both MIGHTY SUN and MILITARY MOVE travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned, D Whyte stated that as FLASHING AURA was stepping up in distance, he was asked to ride the horse quietly from barrier 10 to ensure that it was able to see out the distance of today's race.

He said it was explained to him that FLASHING AURA had been ridden in a similar manner in a barrier trial conducted in the lead up to today's race.

He said when ridden quietly, FLASHING AURA finished off the race strongly, however, the horse did want to lay in under pressure in the Straight.

A veterinary inspection of HANDSOME ZULU and OLE OLE after the race did not show any significant findings.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that HELENE SPIRIT had sustained a cut to the left hind coronet.

MILITARY MOVE and HELENE SPIRIT were sent for sampling.
