Recap by phillip woo

Melbourne Cup hero Dunaden was well rated in midfield and two deep, rounded the final bend three deep, pulled off Campanologist at the 350m and stretched out well over to take control 100m out for the win. Thumbs Up made his run behind midfield and on the rails, rallied six wide upon straightening, hit the front 150m out and kept on gamely to be a clear second. He is in the form of his life and remains hard to beat over a trip on the local scene. Red Cadeaux made his run third from the rear and on the rails, pushed into the clear six wide at the 300m and got going to come up level for third with Silver Pond, who was rated three back and on the rails, held-up for a clear run from the 350m to the 100m one off the fence before finding the line a luckless third. Campanologist was rated one-out, one-back, straightened three deep and kept away one-paced as a false favourite. Trailblazer made his run second from the rear, shifted to the center of the course at the 250m and never threatened. Jakkalberry sat outside the steady pace of Mighty High, put his head in front at the 800m and was stopping 100m out, while Mighty High was giving ground over the final 200m after dictating a steady tempo for a good portion of the race. Vadamar travelled without cover behind midfield and three-to-four deep and was never a danger. Redwood had a torrid trip in fourth and fifth and was struggling 250m out. Specked late, Sara Lynx travelled behind midfield and two deep with cover and pulled up soon after straightening.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (233) - THE CATHAY PACIFIC HONG KONG VASE - Group One - 2400 Meters VADAMAR was slow to begin.

Near the 500 Metres, TRAILBLAZER and VADAMAR were hampered when crowded for room between SARAH LYNX which shifted in slightly as it was commencing to give ground and RED CADEAUX (R Moore) which shifted out.

The tightening to VADAMAR was exacerbated when it made contact with the hindquarters of SARAH LYNX, resulting in that horse being turned in across the running of VADAMAR.

R Moore was advised that whilst there was a contribution to the incident from SARAH LYNX shifting in, nonetheless the incident had occurred principally as a result of RED CADEAUX shifting out.

R Moore was reprimanded and advised in future to ensure that he leaves sufficient room for his fellow riders in similar circumstances.

SILVER POND was unable to obtain clear running until passing the 150 Metres.

For the majority of the race, REDWOOD travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of CAMPANOLOGIST and SARAH LYNX after the race did not show any significant findings.

CAMPANOLOGIST, DUNADEN and THUMBS UP were sent for sampling.
