Recap by phillip woo

Viva Freedom settled worse than midfield and two deep, rounded the final bend five wide, swept to the lead 150m out and kept on gamely to just hold off fast-finishing Fionn's Dragonto chalk up back-to-back wins as the late-fancied favourite. Fionn's Dragon was taken rearward from a wide gate, swung the final bend widest out and was eating at the margin to come up second with money coming on late. Always Something travelled third from the rear and off the rails, rallied four deep and got up in the dying stages to edge out early favourite Winning Edge for a placing. Winning Edge travelled behind midfield and two deep, cornered in six wide and ran on well before appearing to peak 100m out under a big weight. Master Key sat outside the leader, worked to a narrow lead from Sea The Pearls at the 300m and was only swamped inside the final 50m for a placing at long odds after resuming from health issues. Elegance Klammar straightened four deep and whacked away one-paced. Specked late, Champagne Days settled fourth along the fence, straightened two deep and only held his ground without looking a threat. Aladdin Prince was posted without cover near the speed in fourth, was under pressure four deep upon straightening and couldn't stay with them over the final 150m. Treasure Gold settled behind midfield and on the rails after breaking slowly, straightened three deep and never looked likely.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (235) - TOKYO HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400 Meters TREASURE GOLD was slow to begin.

From a wide barrier, FIONN'S DRAGON was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

Near the 1200 Metres, ALADDIN PRINCE was steadied away from the heels of ELEGANCE KLAMMER which shifted in when barely clear.

After being crossed by ELEGANCE KLAMMER near the 1200 Metres, FATBOY SUGAR commenced to race ungenerously and got its head up on a number of occasions.

FATBOY SUGAR then continued to race ungenerously for some distance after this and shifted out near the 1000 Metres, resulting in ELEGANCE KLAMMER and LUCKY BRAVO being hampered.

VIVA FREEDOM, which was following FATBOY SUGAR, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse for some distance.

Prior to the 800 Metres, FATBOY SUGAR then got its head on the side and hung out badly and passing the 700 Metres took charge of its rider and shifted out abruptly, resulting in LUCKY BRAVO being hampered.

FATBOY SUGAR then continued to hang out and was retired from the event.

A veterinary inspection of FATBOY SUGAR after the race did not show any significant findings.

Before being allowed to race again, FATBOY SUGAR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a series of official barrier trials around a bend and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

After this, LUCKY BRAVO travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.

Passing the 700 Metres, TREASURE GOLD was steadied away from the heels of HONEY FORTUNE.

Passing the 300 Metres, HONEY FORTUNE was momentarily crowded for room inside CHAMPAGNE DAYS when attempting a narrow run to the inside of that horse.

HONEY FORTUNE was then badly held up for clear running over the final 200 Metres and because of this was not able to be properly tested.

TREASURE GOLD was not able to obtain clear running over the final 200 Metres and because of this was not able to be properly tested.

In the Straight, ELEGANCE KLAMMER got its head on the side and lay in.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that SEA THE PEARLS had bled from both nostrils.

Following the race, it was noted that FIONN'S DRAGON had blood present at its left nostril.

An endoscopic examination of FIONN'S DRAGON revealed no blood to be present in the trachea and therefore the horse was not deemed to have bled.

A veterinary inspection of ALADDIN PRINCE after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, ALADDIN PRINCE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

VIVA FREEDOM and FIONN'S DRAGON were sent for sampling.
