Recap by phillip woo

Plunged late, At Moment In Time bided his time third from the rear after breaking sluggishly, stayed near the inside upon straightening, switched underneath a tiring Final Answer at the 100m and finished nicely to collar Let Me Fight 30m out for the upset win, despite a step up in trip. Let Me Fight enjoyed a cozy run in fourth along the fence, swept to the lead four deep passing the 150m and found one too good in deep stretch in his course debut. Flying Colours made his run two-to-three deep with some cover in fifth, cornered in five wide and out-finished Amigo a distant third. Amigo bided his time behind midfield and two deep, swung the final bend widest out and was getting going nicely late to make it close for a placing. Final Answer couldn't keep up the gallop over the final 100m. Horse Galore couldn't find anything extra in the last 100m. Voile Rouge bided his time second from the rear from a wide gate, cornered in six deep and passed only beaten runners late. Tailwind made his run at the rear from a wide gate and never looked likely with a ton of money pouring in late in his season debut. Favourite Tai Sing Yeh hit the straight with one wider out and was never a threat after the torrid run. Blaze King travelled on the back of the speed in third and one off the rails, cornered in four deep and was struggling 150m out. He just doesn't get the trip.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (265) - THE HAPPY VALLEY TROPHY (HANDICAP) - Class 1 - 1200 Meters Shortly after the start, WHITE JADE was crowded for room between HORSE GALORE and BLAZE KING which was taken in by FLYING COLOURS (Apprentice C Y Ho).

Apprentice Ho was severely reprimanded and advised that whilst he had shifted back out and relieved the pressure to horses on his inside, he must exercise more care in similar circumstances.

In this incident, HORSE GALORE became unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters by WHITE JADE.

Near the 150 Metres, AT MOMENT IN TIME was shifted to the inside of FINAL ANSWER to continue improving.

Apprentice C Y Ho reported that his saddle shifted back during the race.

Trainer Y S Tsui explained that as TAILWIND was having its first start at Happy Valley tonight, he instructed Y T Cheng to take the horse across behind runners rather than have it race wide and without cover if it was not able to show sufficient speed to cross horses to its inside which had previously shown good early speed.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of TAI SING YEH, G Moss?m said that although TAI SING YEH was obliged to race three wide in the early stages, the horse travelled satisfactorily when racing with cover behind FLYING COLOURS.

He said however that when FLYING COLOURS was able to shift in to a two wide position after the 800 Metres, TAI SING YEH immediately came under pressure and as far out as 700 Metres he had concerns over the manner in which TAI SING YEH was travelling.

He said he placed the horse under pressure after the 600 Metres to maintain its position and whilst TAI SING YEH initially responded to his riding, the horse soon came under pressure in the Straight and was then disappointing in the manner in which it weakened out of the race.

Trainer R Gibson stated that he was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of TAI SING YEH.

He said the horse had pleased him in the lead up to tonight!|s race and accordingly was expected to perform well.

A veterinary inspection of TAI SING YEH after the race did not show any significant findings other than the horse had sustained a small wound to the left hind fetlock.

TAI SING YEH, AT MOMENT IN TIME and LET ME FIGHT were sent for sampling.
