Recap by phillip woo

Victory General showed good gate speed to lead on the stands side from gate 11 with the blinkers applied, was clearly on top halfway and drew clear to win well with a step back to the minimum trip. Sensationally plunged to jump favourite, Zezao was badly held up in the centre of the course, got into the clear to the outside of Power And Gold at the 200m and finished off well to run down early favourite Racing Legend for second with a first crack at the 1,000m. He is capable of winning at this level up to a mile. Racing Legend was patiently ridden, switched into the clear with only Not Quite Perfect underneath him closest the far side at the 400m and finished up nicely. He's gone well in back-to-back Class Fives and is ready to win. Power And Gold was handy in the run in, worked to third at the 100m and was overhauled late for a placing. Viva Dolphin was under the pump at the 400m and lost a placing inside the final 30m. Well Fit was near the speed and kept on one-paced with the drop in grade. Newswire Too couldn't stay in touch at the 200m. He's better over a longer sprint when ridden with some patience. Young Supreme was awkward into stride and did nothing.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (267) - WONG SHEK HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1000 Meters On arrival at the Start, it was noted that ZEZAO had lost its left front plate.

This plate was refitted.

ZEZAO was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that ZEZAO had again lost its left front plate.

VIVA DOLPHIN and YOUNG SUPREME began awkwardly and lost ground at the start.

After being slow to begin, WINNER SMART lost further ground at the start when crowded for room between ZEZAO and LOTS OF FUN which jumped in.

At the 700 Metres, ZEZAO got its head up and was checked away from the heels of LOTS OF FUN (M L Yeung) which shifted in.

M L Yeung was reprimanded and advised to make more effort to keep his mounts on a straight course.

From the 500 Metres until passing the 200 Metres, ZEZAO was badly held up and unable to improve.

Over the concluding stages, RACING LEGEND hung out under pressure, obliging its rider, B Prebble, to stop riding and straighten just prior to the winning post.

VICTORY GENERAL and ZEZAO were sent for sampling.
