Recap by phillip woo

Well-fancied late, Leo's Pride settled behind midfield and on the rails, forced himself into the clear five wide at the 250m and mowed down Handsome Batchelor 30m out off a light weight for back-to-back wins on this surface, despite a step up in grade. Handsome Batchelor travelled sweetly in fourth along the rails, shifted into the clear three deep and kept up a good gallop to overhaul favourite I Smell Money for second. I Smell Money jumped alertly to dictate the early running, before handing up to Solar Up at the 1,150m, reclaimed the front soon after straightening and was swamped late. Solar Up pressed forward from a wide gate to assume the lead role, straightened three deep and kept on surprisingly well with a step up to the mile for the first time off a light weight. Darpana kept on OK with a step up in grade and trip. Fortune Winner made some ground without threatening. Well-punted late, Enhanced lost his momentum when copping a bump six deep at the 200m by the eventual winner.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (272) - LUK WU HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650 Meters As the start was effected, FORTUNE WINNER lifted its front feet off the ground and as a result was slow to begin.

WIN ESPRIT and VIGOR DELIGHT were also slow to begin.

LEO!|S PRIDE began awkwardly, made heavy contact with HANDSOME BATCHELOR and became unbalanced.

SOLAR UP raced wide and without cover in the early stages and after the 1200 Metres was allowed to stride forward to assume a position outside of the lead.

Passing the 1200 Metres, DARPANA commenced to over-race and got its head up when being steadied off the heels of HANDSOME BATCHELOR.

At the 1000 Metres, DARPANA shifted out off the heels of HANDSOME BATCHELOR, resulting in FLYING CHINA being crowded out onto INDIGO WAY.

Following this incident, INDIGO WAY was left racing wide and without cover.

Rounding the Home Turn, FORTUNE WINNER was held up on the heels of FLYING CHINA and unable to improve.

When questioned, T Clark stated that after being afforded a nice run behind the speed, ENHANCED came off the bridle at the 600 Metres and was immediately under pressure to maintain its position on the Home Turn.

He said whilst ENHANCED was hampered by LEO!|S PRIDE which shifted out near the 250 Metres, it was a beaten horse at this stage and as he had concerns regarding the horse!|s action, he did not test ENHANCED over the concluding stages.

A veterinary inspection of ENHANCED after the race did not show any significant findings.

When questioned, M Guyon stated that despite being hard ridden from the 600 Metres, JOLLY GOOD did not respond to his riding and was disappointing.

He said he was unable to offer any explanation for the performance of JOLLY GOOD.

A veterinary inspection of JOLLY GOOD after the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of FLYING CHINA after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea.

After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on I SMELL MONEY at the request of Trainer J Size.

The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea.

I SMELL MONEY, LEO!|S PRIDE and HANDSOME BATCHELOR were sent for sampling.
