Recap by phillip woo

Viva Guy settled midfield and along the rails, stayed to the inside upon straightening, hit the lead 100m out and just held off the late burst of Sunny More for the win. Sunny More travelled a handy fifth and one off the fence, straightened six deep and finished off nicely. Supreme Genki was hounded for the lead at the 800m by Ho Wongchoy, was asked for an effort at the 400m, straightened narrowly on top and just held off Amazing Journey for a placing as the favourite. It was a good effort in defeat. Amazing Journey made his run third from the rear and along the fence, straightened three deep and ran on strongly to come up a stride short of placing. He's come right at his past two starts and could strike soon. Ho Wongchoy was cast three deep early on in fifth before pressing forward to attack the leader at the 800m, cornered in five wide and gave way final 100m. Absolute Fantasy enjoyed a sweet run in fourth along the rails, pushed five wide at the 300m and only held his ground over the last 100m, despite the drop in grade. Private Road made his run worse than midfield and two deep, rounded the final bend six wide and never was a factor. Dr Win was never tested over the final 200m when twice checked in the dash to the line by Ho Wongchoy. Ho Ho Life settled second from the rear and two deep from a wide gate, straightened widest out and wasn't making much of an impression late.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (329) - PERCIVAL HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650 Meters VIVA GUY was slow to begin.

Near the 1300 Metres, ABSOLUTE FANTASY was momentarily crowded for room inside SUPREME GENKI.

After the 900 Metres, SUPREME GENKI got its head up on a number of occasions when proving difficult to settle.

HO WONGCHOY travelled wide and without cover until near the 800 Metres.

Making the turn after the 600 Metres, ABSOLUTE FANTASY was awkwardly placed inside the heels of DR WIN which shifted in marginally.

At the 400 Metres, VIVA GUY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of ABSOLUTE FANTASY.

Near the 150 Metres, DR WIN was shifted out away from the heels of HO WONGCHOY which shifted out away from SUPREME GENKI which itself was shifting out under pressure.

M L Yeung (HO WONGCHOY) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 100 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of DR WIN, causing that horse to be checked and lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled.

M L Yeung was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday, 6 February 2012 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).

The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday, 29 January 2012.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that HO WONGCHOY had lost its left front plate and had sustained a cut to the inside of the right hind cannon.

After the 50 Metres, M Chadwick (SUNNY MORE) dropped his whip.

Over the concluding stages, INDIGO WAY, which was closing off the race, was awkwardly placed inside the heels of HO WONGCHOY which shifted in.

Because of this, INDIGO WAY was not able to be ridden out to the end of the race as it otherwise would be.

M Guyon (SUPREME GENKI) was warned for raising his whip arm above shoulder height in the Straight.

D Beadman will be spoken to regarding using the whip on EASTERN EMPIRE when that horse was out of contention.

A veterinary inspection of HO HO LIFE after the race did not show any significant findings.

SUPREME GENKI, VIVA GUY and SUNNY MORE were sent for sampling.
