Recap by phillip woo

Peppermint settled behind midfield and eventually with cover at the 1,300m, rounded the final bend with three wider out and eventually wore down Athenium 50m out off a light weight with a step up in grade. Athenium settled midfield and two deep, worked to the lead five wide at the 200m and went down fighting. Danzulu settled worse than midfield and on the rails, cornered in six wide and ran on well to overhaul Elegance Klammar for a placing. Favourite Elegance Klammar was posted three deep, hit the straight four deep and whacked away one-paced off a big weight. Ho Ho Life bided his time at the rear and made some ground without threatening. He's certainly more effective over 1,800m. Enabling enjoyed the box-seat run behind the leader Wealth Park, was short of room upon straightening until the 100m and was never tested. Takeanotherchance made his run from the rear after missing the kick and was never a threat. Happy Seven was dropping out of things at the 200m. Nice Folks was a bit tight for room over the last 100m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (348) - KUT CHEONG HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1600 Meters As the start was effected, SILVER FLOWER stood flat-footed and lost a considerable amount of ground.

Before being allowed to race again, SILVER FLOWER will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial.

TAKEANOTHERCHANCE began awkwardly, shifted out at the start and bumped TOWERING STORM.

D Beadman (ELEGANCE KLAMMER) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 800 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of TOWERING STORM, resulting in that horse being hampered and taken in across the rightful running of NICE FOLKS which as a result was checked and lost the running to which it was rightfully entitled.

DANZULU, which was following NICE FOLKS, was checked away from the heels of that horse in consequence.

D Beadman was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday, 6 February 2012 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).

The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday, 29 January 2012.

Near the 300 Metres, NICE FOLKS was steadied away from the heels of ENABLING which shifted out.

Passing the 200 Metres, ENABLING was steadied when disappointed for running between HAPPY SEVEN and ELEGANCE KLAMMER which was taken in by ATHENIUM which got its head on the side and shifted in away from PEPPERMINT.

After this, ENABLING had difficulty obtaining clear running until approaching the 100 Metres.

For the major part of the race, ELEGANCE KLAMMER travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of NICE FOLKS and HAPPY SEVEN after the race did not show any significant findings.

ELEGANCE KLAMMER, PEPPERMINT and ATHENIUM were sent for sampling.
