Recap by phillip woo

Notus travelled behind midfield and three deep with cover, rounded the final bend six wide, hit the front 200m out and stayed on nicely for an upset win. Well-punted late, Lord Dragon was no match for the winner on this day, but kept on well for second after a three-deep trip with cover in fifth behind the leader Urban Dancer. He's open to a lot more improvement and will be winning soon. Favourite, Good Hong Kong travelled worse than midfield and on the rails, cornered in four deep in a bit of traffic and was flat-footed before lengthening 100m out to collar Chancellor for third. Chancellor was posted three deep on the speed without cover from gate 13, hit the lead four wide at the 300m and gave way in a positive performance with blinkers applied off a gelding operation. Top Dragon was rated fourth from the rear and two deep, rounded the final bend with one wider out and was finishing off well to make it close for a minor placing. Twin Turbo rated well in fourth along the rails, loomed a winning chance at the 200m and came up flat over the last 100m. Shanghai Pioneer made his run third from the rear and two deep, rounded the final bend six wide and made some ground. Urban Dancer led and was gone at the 250m. Specked late at a price, All The Winners was hustled to lead early, before handing up to Urban Dancer at the 1,200m, straightened two deep and was stopping 300m out.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (358) - RESFA HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400 Meters LUCKY YOUNG ONES was withdrawn on 27.1.12 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (swollen right fore tendon).

Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY YOUNG ONES will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

WINNING PAL, FIERY PATROL and TOP DRAGON were slow to begin.

At the 850 Metres, CHANCELLOR was taken in to a position three wide and without cover by ALL THE WINNERS which shifted to the outside of URBAN DANCER when that horse was steadied in the lead.

Approaching the 700 Metres, DYNAMIC CROSS raced in restricted room between LORD DRAGON and TWIN TURBO which shifted out.

At the entrance to the Straight, DYNAMIC CROSS was momentarily crowded for room between NOTUS and GOOD HONG KONG which shifted out.

Both SHANGHAI PIONEER and GOOD HONG KONG had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight.

Near the 100 Metres, LORD DRAGON got its head on the side and shifted in away from NOTUS, resulting in CHANCELLOR being bumped and becoming unbalanced.

In the Straight, TOP DRAGON got its head on the side and lay in, resulting in Apprentice K C Ng, its rider, changing his whip into his right hand near the 100 Metres.

After the race, it was noted that there was blood at the left nostril of ALL THE WINNERS.

ALL THE WINNERS was unable to be scoped even after having been sedated.

Acting on a report from the Veterinary Officer, ALL THE WINNERS was not deemed to have bled.

GOOD HONG KONG, NOTUS and LORD DRAGON were sent for sampling.
