Recap by phillip woo

Classic Figure sat outside the leader Glittering in second, raced to the lead three deep at the 300m and fought off favourite Mr Award over the final 200m for a narrow win. Mr Award settled one-out, one-back, cornered in four deep on the bridle and couldn't match the winner. He's ready to win. Newswire Too saved ground three back and on the rails, stayed to the inside upon straightening and kept on gamely for a distant third. Epatant settled three back and one-off the rails, straightened three deep and was overhauled 100m out for a placing. Specked late, Duke's Victory was cast three deep in midfield, rounded the final bend six wide and ran on well to pick up a minor cheque. Polygold was rated fourth from the rear, swung the final bend with one wider out and got going late without threatening. Sunseeker made his run three deep and behind midfield, rounded the final bend six wide and made no impression. Hero's Win made his run near the inside and fourth from the rear, straightened six deep on the heels of Sunseeker, worked into the clear at the 200m and only kept on passed beaten runners.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (374) - SAPPHIRE HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1400 Meters KING OF FISH II and SUGAR ON TOP were slow to begin.

POLYGOLD was slow to begin and then shortly after the start was crowded for room between HEROS WIN and EPATANT which shifted in.

From a wide barrier, SAME SAME was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

In the early stages, HEROS WIN proved very difficult to settle and had to be checked away from the heels of FANTASTISCH for some distance.

When continuing to over-race, HEROS WIN got its head up and shifted in away from the heels of FANTASTISCH near the 900 Metres, resulting in SAME SAME losing ground when crowded for room inside that horse.

As the Stewards were of the view that there was no rider error involved in this incident, no further action was taken.

Near the 600 Metres, HEROS WIN was checked away from the heels of FANTASTISCH which itself got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of EPATANT.

In this incident, HEROS WIN bumped POLYGOLD.

In the early part of the Straight, HEROS WIN had difficulty obtaining clear running between SUNSEEKER and POLYGOLD.

After the 300 Metres, K C Leung (GLITTERING) dropped his whip.

After the 200 Metres, KING OF FISH II was steadied when disappointed for running between GLITTERING and EPATANT which shifted in.

For the majority of the race, DUKES VICTORY travelled wide and without cover.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that DUKES VICTORY had lost its left front plate.

A veterinary inspection of KING OF FISH II after the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of HEROS WIN after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, HEROS WIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

CLASSIC FIGURE and MR AWARD were sent for sampling.
