Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Best Eleven sat three deep in third, rallied four wide upon straightening, quickened well to hit the front 150m out and held off the late surge of late-fancied Rumba King off a big weight in his dirt debut to remain unbeaten in three rides under Frenchman Maxim Guyon. Rumba King settled fifth and one off, cornered in three deep and was hitting the line with purpose. City Power was posted four deep without cover ahead of midfield, rallied five wide upon straightening and finished up nicely to take third ahead of Needles And Thread, who had settled behind midfield and just off the rails, straightened three deep and got going late to make it close. The latter appears to be coming right and will be hard to beat over a mile on this surface. Charles The Great settled second and one off the fence, worked to second three deep at the 200m and was swamped for a placing inside the final 100m. Flying Smart was allowed to fade back from a wide gate, shifted into the clear four deep at the 250m and made some ground. Pocket Rockets recovered after a sluggish break to settle fourth and near the inside at the 800m, stayed to the inside upon straightening and never made much of an impression. What A Heart was stopping 200m out, while Withinmyheart was struggling 200m out under an urging ride.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (377) - THE POK OI CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 3 - 1200 Meters CHARLES THE GREAT began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped RUMBA KING.

When being taken across behind runners from the outside barrier in the early stages, BEST WIN got its head up on a number of occasions.

Also from a wide barrier, FLYING SMART was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

Approaching the 900 Metres, WITHINMYHEART got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of RUMBA KING which was steadied when CHARLES THE GREAT crossed.

Near the 200 Metres, WHAT A HEART shifted in towards the running rail and became unbalanced.

POCKET ROCKETS, which was following, was shifted out away from the heels of that horse in consequence.

Throughout the race, BEST ELEVEN travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of WITHINMYHEART after the race did not show any significant findings.

BEST ELEVEN and RUMBA KING were sent for sampling.
