Recap by phillip woo

Something Special was suited by the swift pace and came from the rear and widest out at the top of the straight to get up in the final few metres for the upset win. Favourite Mochi was settled ahead of midfield and one off the rails, swept to the lead four deep at the 150m and was collared late. He continues to knock on the door and is overdue for a win. Bumper Strike settled behind midfield and two deep, was asked to make ground approaching the 400m, cornered in with two wider out and stayed on well to make it close for second. Top Dragon hit the straight with one wider out and was getting going late to fill the frame in fourth. Juggernaut showed early speed, but couldn't clear with Gold Winner shooting up underneath passing the winner's arch for the first time, settled fourth and one off the fence at the 1,200m, ridden to hit the lead 400m out, straightened one off the fence and was out of gas in the final 100m. Joyful Winner II whacked on one-paced over the final 100m. He's nothing special. El Grande settled behind midfield and on the rails, stayed to the inside upon straightening and kept on passed beaten runners. Moon Chaser made his run second from the rear, cornered in four deep and was making some ground late without threatening. Toy Story enjoyed the box-seat behind the rapid pace of Gold Winner and Jolly Wongchoy out deep, straightened one off the fence and was stopping 100m out.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (402) - JAFFE HANDICAP - Class 4 (Special Conditions) - 1650 Meters GOLD WINNER began awkwardly and shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of MOCHI which shifted out.

EL GRANDE was slow to begin and shortly after the start was taken across behind runners.

Despite being ridden along in the early stages, TOP DRAGON failed to muster speed.

After passing the winning post on the first occasion, MOCHI got its head up when being steadied to allow JUGGERNAUT to cross.

After the 500 Metres, JOLLY WONGCHOY, which was commencing to give ground, was momentarily crowded for room between JUGGERNAUT and TOY STORY which shifted out to improve its position between JOLLY WONGCHOY and GOLD WINNER.

Approaching the 400 Metres, SOMETHING SPECIAL was shifted out away from the heels of TOP DRAGON.

A short distance later, TOP DRAGON was steadied away from the heels of JOLLY WONGCHOY which was continuing to give ground.

Rounding the Home Turn, EL GRANDE raced tight inside JOYFUL WINNER II which itself was racing in restricted room inside JOLLY WONGCHOY.

In the early part of the Straight, TOP DRAGON got its head on the side and hung in, resulting in its rider, Y T Cheng changing his whip into his right hand.

Then near the 100 Metres, TOP DRAGON was steadied out and away from the heels of BUMPER STRIKE which shifted out slightly.

After this, TOP DRAGON was awkwardly positioned outside the heels of BUMPER STRIKE.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that JOYFUL WINNER II had lost its left front plate.

SOMETHING SPECIAL and MOCHI were sent for sampling.
