Recap by phillip woo

Holiday Sun travelled fourth from the rear and along the inside, rounded the final bend six wide and just out-dashed Outdoor Pegasus to get up in the final 20m for a narrow win. Outdoor Pegasus settled one-out, one-back, rallied four wide upon straightening and finished up nicely to come up just short. He relished racing at Happy Valley. Mr Bond was still at the rear upon straightening three deep and dashed nicely to make it very close at the finish. Voile Rouge ran on reasonably well to fill the frame in fourth. Favourite Penglai Xianzi was made to work too hard through slick early fractions by Cerise Cherry, straightened a length on top and was out of gas inside the final 100m. Hot Shot rounded the final bend five wide and stayed on okay. Vaugirard copped a bad check when going for a run underneath Penglai Xianzi at the 150m and failed to recover thereafter. Business As Usual enjoyed the box-seat run in third, shifted one off the fence into the clear upon straightening and kept on one-paced. Longwah Supreme didn't see out the mile. Super Satin settled third from the rear and three deep, was off his stride when straightening three deep in a traffic jam and failed to find thereafter. Dragon Fighter travelled off the track in midfield, cornered in furthest out and was never a danger with money coming on late.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (439) - CHEONG MING HANDICAP - Class 1 - 1650 Metersv OUTDOOR PEGASUS and CERISE CHERRY made heavy contact at the start.

MR BOND was crowded for room shortly after the start between PENGLAI XIANZI and VAUGIRARD which shifted out.

After this, MR BOND was taken across behind runners.

Approaching and passing the winning post on the first occasion, LONGWAH SUPREME got its head up and proved difficult to settle when being steadied.

VOILE ROUGE, which was following, was checked away from the heels of LONGWAH SUPREME in consequence.

Then approaching the 1100 Metres, LONGWAH SUPREME got its head up on a number of occasions when awkwardly placed close to the heels of OUTDOOR PEGASUS.

After the 500 Metres, LONGWAH SUPREME and DRAGON FIGHTER bumped as LONGWAH SUPREME shifted to the outside of OUTDOOR PEGASUS.

LONGWAH SUPREME then hung out rounding the Home Turn.

Rounding the Home Turn, HOT SHOT was held up for clear running behind CERISE CHERRY.

Then in the early part of the Straight, HOT SHOT had difficulty obtaining clear running.

SUPER SATIN was unable to obtain clear running until after the 200 Metres.

M Chadwick (PENGLAI XIANZI) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after the 150 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of VAUGIRARD, causing that horse to be checked and lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled.

M Chadwick was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 15 March 2012 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays).

The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday, 4 March 2012.

In addition, M Chadwick was fined $40,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating 1 further raceday.

For the majority of the race, DRAGON FIGHTER travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of LONGWAH SUPREME after the race did not show any significant findings.
