Recap by phillip woo

John Dory settled behind midfield and two deep, shifted into the clear five wide at the 350m and got up in the final 50m for the win with money coming on late. Tarrega settled a handy fifth and one off the rails, poked his head in front 100m out and found one too good in the dying stages. Classic Figure mustered speed to hold second along the paint, worked to the lead 250m out and gave way in the final 100m. Super Caga was cast deep without cover four deep behind midfield, rounded the final bend with two wider out and ran on nicely to just edge Triumphant Way for fourth. Triumphant Way was impeded on a number of occasions in the straight after a nice trip in midfield and on the rails in an improved effort with a step up in distance. Spicy Siam was in no hurry third from the rear and along the inside, took closer order around midfield at the 600m, straightened four deep and made late progress near the inside with a move to blinkers. He's improving with racing. Lucky Chevalier was doing his best work late, while High Return was stopping passing the 200m yet again. Specked late, Life Of Beauty made no impression.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (464) - LOTUS BRIDGE HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400 Meters MATSUKAZE began awkwardly.

DREAMS MAKER was slow to begin.

From a wide barrier, THANKSGIVING was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

For some distance after the 1100 Metres, THANKSGIVING proved difficult to settle and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of LUCKY CHEVALIER.

Making the turn passing the 900 Metres, SPICY SIAM was momentarily crowded for room inside F S WINNER which was awkwardly placed inside LUCKY CHEVALIER.

After having difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight, TRIUMPHANT WAY was shifted to the outside of TARREGA approaching the 300 Metres.

TRIUMPHANT WAY then again had difficulty obtaining clear running when attempting to improve into a tight position between TARREGA and JOHN DORY.

After the 200 Metres, SPICY SIAM hung in under pressure and close to the line shifted ground inwards.

Because of this, SPICY SIAM was not ridden right out to the end of the race as it normally would be.

Throughout the race, MATSUKAZE travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.

A veterinary inspection of MATSUKAZE after the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of MATSUKAZE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, MATSUKAZE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Also throughout the race, SUPER CAGA travelled wide and without cover.

JOHN DORY and TARREGA were sent for sampling.
