Recap by phillip woo

Early favourite, Mr Award pinged straight to the front through honest fractions, straightened narrowly on top from late-fancied Gorgeous Life, responded to open up two lengths at the 200m and drew clear for a nice win. Gorgeous Life parked outside the leader, straightened three deep with every chance and run peaked inside the final 100m. Just Good travelled in midfield and on the rails, shifted into the clear six deep at the 200m and finished up nicely to snare third in the final stride from Hot Pepper. He has run well in back-to-back runs and looks ready to score. Hot Pepper enjoyed the box-seat run, stayed to the fence upon straightening and kept on OK with 10-pound claimer Alvin Ng Ka-chun on board. Take By Storm settled in fourth and one off the fence, rallied four deep and whacked away one-paced. Well Fit travelled three back and on the rails, cornered in two-to-three deep and kept on evenly without looking a danger. Sunseeker travelled in midfield outside of Just Good, peeled into the clear six deep at the 350m and plodded away one-paced. Speedy's run ended passing the 150m.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (479) - CHE SARA SARA HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200 Meters MY MELODY was withdrawn on 17.3.12 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter FAST INTENTIONS (W C Marwing).

Before being allowed to race again, MY MELODY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

After being loaded, YOUNG SUPREME became fractious, reared and sat down momentarily, resulting in M L Yeung, its rider, being dislodged.

Also after being loaded, SPEEDY became fractious.

Before being allowed to race again, YOUNG SUPREME and SPEEDY will both be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.

TELECOM NEW STAR and SPARKLING were crowded for room at the start between SUNSEEEKR and GORGEOUS LIFE which shifted out.

From wider barriers, YOUNG SUPREME and GOOD LOOKING WATCH were taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

When being steadied away from the heels of HOT PEPPER making the first turn near the 850 Metres, WELL FIT got its head on the side and shifted out towards the hindquarters of TAKE BY STORM.

JUST GOOD, which was following, was inconvenienced.

In the Straight, SPARKLING hung in and proved difficult to ride.

After the 200 Metres, GREY WHIZZ was crowded for room between SPARKLING which was continuing to hang in and SUNSEEKER which shifted out and away from JUST GOOD.

Throughout the race, GREY WHIZZ travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of FAST INTENTIONS after the race did not show any significant findings.

MR AWARD and GORGEOUS LIFE were sent for sampling.
