Recap by phillip woo

In a rather pace-oriented race, Medic Champion cleared from gate 12 to lead at the 1,000m, went a steady clip while straightening a length on top and drew clear for an instant success following a stable change as a firming second pick. Epatant settled a distant fourth and one off the fence outside Lots Of Fun, cornered in three deep and plugged on gamely for second. Favourite Metrevelli settled third from the rear and three deep, rallied with one wider out and was the only to come from out of the pack to grab third. Watch First recovered off a sluggish break to settle midfield and on the rails at the 1,400m, was short of room until switching into the clear at the 250m and made a steady late bid. Epee De Hua travelled on the speed along the rails, stayed to the inside upon straightening and only held his ground. Lots Of Fun settled fifth along the rails, cornered three deep and whacked away one-paced. Chantilly was taken back to last from a wide gate and kept on passed beaten runners. Grandway Flyer was stopping 300m out in a flat performance.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (497) - YAN CHAU TONG HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1600 Meters WATCH FIRST was slow to begin.

CHANTILLY shifted out at the start and bumped RUN TO WIN.

From wide barriers, both CHANTILLY and RUN TO WIN were then taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

Shortly after the start, SUNNY SMILES and METREVELLI were crowded for room inside TREASURE GLITTER (A Suborics) which shifted in.

A Suborics was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he leaves sufficient racing room for runners to his inside in future.

After the 800 Metres, LOTS OF FUN commenced to over-race and shifted out away from the heels of EPEE DE HUA after being awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse for a short distance.

When LOTS OF FUN shifted out, EPATANT was taken in to a three wide position without cover.

Rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, SPEED RACER got its head on the side and hung out.

WATCH FIRST was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight.

A veterinary inspection of GRANDWAY FLYER after the race revealed that the horse had sustained an abrasion wound to the outside of the left hind fetlock.

A veterinary inspection of SPEED RACER after the race did not show any significant findings.

METREVELLI, MEDIC CHAMPION and EPATANT were sent for sampling.
