Recap by phillip woo

Well-found in the betting, Racing Hero rated nicely with the shadow roll three back and on the rails, worked to the lead one off the fence approaching at the 200m and kept on well for the win at his third outing. Short-priced favourite G-One Winning eventually settled on the back of the speed in fourth and one off the fence behind the leader Phaedo, was held up in a pocket upon straightening, shifted three deep into the clear at the 350m and kept on one-paced to hold second from the fast-finishing Keen Wongchoy. He may be looking forward to a longer trip. Keen Wongchoy settled fourth from the rear and three deep, swung the final bend with one wider out and was hitting the line with purpose. Happy Ha Ha was a tad slow into stride, settled behind midfield and on the rails, stayed to the inside upon straightening and wore down Eight Plus Nine in the final stride for fourth. Eight Plus Nine took the sit in second or third along the inside, assumed the lead from Phaedo at the head of the straight, built a length margin at the 300m and went down grudgingly. Xilai Xianzi got going late without menacing.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eleven: (535) - PAK SHA O HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400 Meters TOM'S EIGHTH, which was very fractious in the barriers and got its head down on a number of occasions, was slow to begin.

VIVA GUY, which was leaning on the inside of its barrier, began awkwardly.

From wide barriers, KEEN WONGCHOY and XILAI XIANZI were taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

Near the 1100 Metres, TOUCH GO commenced to travel keenly and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of CITY POWER.

Also near the 1100 Metres, KEEN WONGCHOY got its head up when proving difficult to settle and shifted out away from the heels of LUNAR REFLECTIONS.

Approaching the 1000 Metres, VIVA GUY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SUMMER DASH.

After the 400 Metres, SUMMER DASH was taken out by VICTORY MASTER.

Close to the finishing line, KEEN WONGCHOY shifted in abruptly, causing its rider, A Suborics, to stop riding and attempt to straighten the horse.

Throughout the race, CITY POWER travelled wide and without cover.

RACING HERO and G-ONE WINNING were sent for sampling.

Trainer P O'Sullivan was fined $15,000 for breaching Rule 149 in that he presented COLUMBUS LINE (N264) to compete in batch 7 at the Official Barrier Trials conducted at Sha Tin Racecourse on Tuesday, 3 April 2012 when HAPPY FRIENDS (N160), a horse also trained by Mr O'Sullivan, had been entered to compete in this trial.

The presentation of the incorrect horse was detected by the duty Stipendiary Steward and as such both HAPPY FRIENDS and COLUMBUS LINE ultimately competed in their correct batches.

During the course of the hearing, it was established that Mr F S Cheung, assistant trainer to Mr O'Sullivan, had the responsibility of ensuring that the correct horses trained by Mr O'Sullivan were presented for the respective barrier trials.

Mr Cheung was advised that the Stewards will forward a report to the Stables Manager in respect of this matter.
