Recap by phillip woo

Panther Run was travelling nicely worse than midfield and on the rails, peeled four deep at the 400m and finished willingly to take control 50m out for the win. Soldier enjoyed the box-seat, shifted three deep upon straightening and stayed on well to grab second 50m out. Kensworth Kid travelled fifth along the rails, switched into the clear three-to-four deep at the 300m and wore down Telecom Supremo in the final stride for third. Late-fancied favourite, Telecom Supremo made the running from gate 10, cornered in nearly three lengths on top and gave way late. Plunged late, Humongus settled behind midfield and two deep, cornered in five wide, switched inside for a clear run at the 350m and made a steady bid late. Glory Of India settled fourth in the run and two deep, rallied four wide upon straightening and whacked away one-paced over the final 200m. Mount Victory never fired, while early favourite Full Spirit was never a factor and Euphemism was stopping 400m out.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (530) - THE LUSITANO CHALLENGE CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 1800 Meters FORTUNE COOKIE began awkwardly.

Shortly after the start, HAPPY CHA CHA momentarily raced in restricted room between DALKAN and FULL SPIRIT which got its head on the side and shifted in.

Rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, HUMONGUS had difficulty obtaining clear running.

Near the 200 Metres, VICTORY MASCOT was awkwardly placed close to the heels of MOUNT VICTORY which shifted out.

VICTORY MASCOT was then held up for clear running and after the 100 Metres was shifted to the inside of runners to obtain clear running.

Throughout the race, MOUNT VICTORY travelled wide and without cover.

After the race, D Whyte reported that EUPHEMISM shortened stride noticeably rounding the Home Turn and gave ground quickly in the early part of the Straight.

He said, in his opinion, EUPHEMISM was not stretching out comfortably.

A veterinary inspection of EUPHEMISM after the race did not show any significant findings.

Before being allowed to race again, EUPHEMISM will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that MOUNT VICTORY had lost its right front plate.

TELECOM SUPREMO, PANTHER RUN and SOLDIER were sent for sampling.
