Recap by phillip woo

Master Rio travelled a handy fourth along the fence, worked to a narrow lead along the paint at the 200m and just held off by a whisker the late burst of Sea The Pearls for the win. Sea The Pearls settled fourth from last and three deep with cover, rushed forward to take closer order in midfield approaching the final bend, cornered in widest out and finished up willingly to lose out in a photo after resuming from blood in the nostrils in December. Well-punted late, Shahjee pinged straight three deep a half-length on top and gave way grudgingly over the final 100m. Sunny Fay made his run third from the rear and two deep, straightened with two wider out and finished up nicely to just collar Perfect Gear and Forever Elation for third. Perfect Gear was posted four deep near the speed from gate 11, before emerging one off in second at the 800m, cornered in four deep and kept on one-paced over the final 100m. Forever Elation settled midfield and on the rails, peeled one off the fence upon straightening and kept on steadily with every chance. Friends Of Yan Oi settled a handy sixth and one off the fence, straightened three deep upon straightening and kept on evenly over the final 150m. Rainbow Fighters travelled a handy fifth with cover three deep, turned the final bend five wide and failed to respond over the final 200m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (551) - LILY HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200 Meters FREE AND EASY was withdrawn on 17.4.12 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (sore right front tendon) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter FRIENDS OF YAN OI (T Clark).

Before being allowed to race again, FREE AND EASY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

On arrival at the barriers, LOVING ALL, which had made contact with a rail on the way to the Start, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.

SUNNY FAY was slow to begin.

MEGA began awkwardly and lost ground.

Passing the 800 Metres, RAINBOW FIGHTER, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of LOVING ALL which shifted in.

Throughout the race, LOVING ALL travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.

The performance of LOVING ALL, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, LOVING ALL will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of MAGNUMOUS and LOVING ALL after the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of MEGA including an endoscopic examination after the race confirmed the horse to be a roarer.

MASTER RIO and SEA THE PEARLS were sent for sampling.
