Recap by phillip woo

My Goal was a handy fourth along the fence, straightened near the inside, hit the front 100m out and held on gamely for the win as the late-fancied favourite. Glenealy Star travelled second on the rails, drifted nearly six deep upon straightening and stayed on nicely to make it close at the finish. Imperial Rome bided his time second from the rear, straightened one off the fence and finished off well to knocking off pacesetter Bullish King for third. Bullish King kept them honest on the speed while leading by three lengths at the 600m, straightened nearly two lengths on top and was giving way in the final 100m. Impeccable settled third and one off the fence, peeled four wide upon straightening and kept on evenly without threatening with money coming on late. Early favourite, Turf Magic recovered after crowding at the jump to settle midfield and near the inside at the 800m, cornered in with two wider out and made some ground late without menacing. Red Lucky Star made his run at or second from the rear, rounded the final bend six wide and kept on passed beaten runners. Pocket Rockets rounded the final bend widest out and was never a factor. Specked late, newcomer Super Fresh made his run fourth from the rear and two deep, straightened four deep and was struggling 150m out. First In Command was a late-withdrawal after dumping his rider and going a circuit of the track.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (570) - THE ST GEORGE'S CHALLENGE CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 3 - 1200 Meters After being mounted prior to leaving the Parade Ring, FIRST IN COMMAND took charge, resulting in its rider, B Prebble, being dislodged.

FIRST IN COMMAND then completed a circuit of the track riderless.

Acting on veterinary advice that FIRST IN COMMAND was not suitable to race, the horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.

Before being allowed to race again, FIRST IN COMMAND will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

On arrival at the Start, the tongue tie fitted to BERNARDS CHOICE was replaced.

SUPER FRESH proved difficult to load.

Before being allowed to race again, SUPER FRESH will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.

From wide barriers, BERNARDS CHOICE and IMPERIAL ROME were taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

Shortly after the start, TURF MAGIC was steadied when crowded for room between IMPECCABLE and MY GOAL which shifted out.

Also shortly after the start, SUPER FRESH was steadied away from the heels of GLENEALY STAR when crowded for room between that horse and IMPECCABLE.

When being steadied in the early stages, POCKET ROCKETS proved difficult to settle and got its head up on a number of occasions.

After the 900 Metres, POCKET ROCKETS, which continued to prove very difficult to settle, was left racing wide and without cover.

For the majority of the race, CITY POWER travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of POCKET ROCKETS after the race did not show any significant findings.

MY GOAL and GLENEALY STAR were sent for sampling.
