Recap by phillip woo

Cheerful Double settled nicely three back and on the rails, shifted three deep at the 350m, swept to the lead 100m out and kept on gamely for a handy win. Kingston Spartacus made his run behind midfield and three deep, swung the final bend with two wider out and ran on willingly to grab second in a blanket finish. Super Horse bided his time at the rear and was letting down nicely to make it very close for second. Sure Champ was posted three deep and third from the rear from the widest drawn and was hitting the line with purpose to come up just short of placing with a ton of money coming on late. Early favourite Good Hong Kong was posted three deep with some cover in midfield but appeared to peak in the final 50m off a big weight with a step up in trip. Fancied late to jump favourite, Diligent III enjoyed the box-seat run and was one-paced over the last 100m. Clement Spirit travelled behind midfield and on the rails, stayed to the inside upon straightening and made some ground. Wealth Park travelled one-out, one-back in the run, straightened four deep and kept on evenly after being steadied at the 100m. Our Dynasty was posted deep on the speed in fourth and came up one-paced over the final 200m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (576) - AUDEMARS PIGUET ROYAL OAK HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1600 Meters FORTUNE SIX was withdrawn on 26.4.12 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (substantial amount of blood in trachea on scoping after track work) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SUN DRAGON.

Before being allowed to race again, FORTUNE SIX will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

DIAMOND AGATE was slow to begin.

CLEMENT SPIRIT began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped WEALTH PARK.

SUN DRAGON began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped KINGSTON SPARTACUS.

After the 1100 Metres, CLEMENT SPIRIT got its head up when proving difficult to settle.

Approaching the 1000 Metres, DIAMOND AGATE shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of BOSAMBO.

Near the 700 Metres, BOSAMBO was steadied away from the heels of SPICY SIAM.

DIAMOND AGATE, which was following, was hampered in consequence.

Approaching the 600 Metres, CHEERFUL DOUBLE got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of DILIGENT III.

When placed under pressure rounding the Home Turn, SUN DRAGON got its head on the side and lay out.

B Prebble (DILIGENT III) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after the 200 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of WEALTH PARK, causing that horse to be checked and lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled.

B Prebble was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Sunday, 13 May 2012 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).

The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin Valley racemeeting on Sunday, 6 May 2012.

In addition, B Prebble was fined $80,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating two further racedays.

Throughout the race, OUR DYNASTY travelled wide and without cover.

A Suborics (SPICY SIAM) was again reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out to the end of the race at least hands and heels wherever circumstances permit.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that CHEERFUL DOUBLE had sustained minor cuts to the outside of the right hind fetlock and heel.

A veterinary inspection of ROCKET PROUD after the race did not show any significant findings.
