Recap by phillip woo
Firming favourite Dominant saved ground worse than midfield and on the rails behind a crawling pace, was awkward among horses at the 700m, short of room and copped a check between Super Pistachio and Carthage at the 250m, gained a clear run at the 150m before quickening nicely to take control 100m out for the win over a suitable trip with a sharp drop in weight. He remains one to follow from 2,000m to 2,400m. Liberator was cast off the track early on without cover, rushed forward to lead at the 1,600m, before dropping anchor to settle second behind Super Pistachio at the 1,200m, worked to the front again three deep at the 250m and found one better on the day. It was a big run in defeat. Same World improved his position at the 650m, peeled five wide upon straightening and worked home well to finish a distant third. Super Pistachio lulled them to sleep on the front, was briefly headed at the 1,600m, pulled out and reclaimed the front at the 1,200m, straightened narrowly on top from Carthage and was headed 50m out for a placing. Osvaldo was running on late to nearly claim a First-4 spot. Well-punted late, Wrath Of Fire pushed into the clear with one wider out at the 300m and couldn't hold off Osvaldo for a pay cheque. He was simply outclassed. Packing Tycoon kept on evenly without menacing. Real Specialist was out-distanced.
