Recap by phillip woo

More than halving his quote before the jump, Keen Marie pressed forward from a wide gate to settle third without cover, worked to the lead three deep at the 200m and edged clear for the win. Sunny Fay bided his time third from the rear and two deep, rounded the final bend with one wider out and finished off well to snare second from short-priced Simple in a bob of heads. Simple, who may have been over agitated after being re-plated before the start, settled midfield and on the rails, straightened one off the fence with every chance and kept battling away without quickening over the final 100m. Rich Tapestry was caught deep without cover ahead of midfield, rallied five wide upon straightening and stayed on nicely off a big weight. Well-punted late, Prolific Champion settled second in the run behind the runaway leader Genki Moochi, cornered in one off the fence, switched four deep at the 200m and held his ground. Highland Dragon was reined back to last from the widest gate and was hitting the line with purpose in a much-improved effort at only his second start. Finn Maccool made his run behind midfield and on the rails, straightened one off the pain and kept on passed beaten runners. Genki Moochi was stopping mid-straight. Gene Power was never a factor.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (597) - DINGOLFING HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200 Meters FORTUNE GENERAL was withdrawn on 3.5.12 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (bled after track work).

On arrival at the Start, it was noted that SIMPLE had lost its right front plate.

This plate was refitted.

SIMPLE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.

When being steadied with a view to being shifted across behind runners shortly after the start from the outside barrier, HIGHLAND DRAGON got its head up on a number of occasions and for a short distance proved difficult to settle.

Approaching the 1100 Metres, SUNNY FAY was crowded for room between GOOD FELLOW and RICH TAPESTRY which shifted in slightly before being corrected by its rider.

In the early and middle stages, GENKI MOOCHI proved difficult to settle in the lead.

HIGHLAND DRAGON had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight.

Over the concluding stages, FINN MACCOOL raced in restricted room between PROLIFIC CHAMPION and SIMPLE.

Because of this, FINN MACCOOL was not able to be properly ridden out over the concluding stages.

Throughout the race, RICH TAPESTRY travelled wide and without cover.

SIMPLE, KEEN MARIE and SUNNY FAY were sent for sampling.
