Recap by phillip woo

Jolly Good was settled midfield and three deep behind the weak pace of Interchina Star, rounded the final bend five wide, swept to the lead 200m out and stayed on gamely for a nice win. Fancied late, Always Something was posted three deep in fifth position, moved to third at the 800m, straightened four deep and kept on well to hold Leo's Pride for second. Leo's Pride settled worse than midfield and two deep, pushed into the clear with two wider out at the 300m and was letting down well before coming up rather one-paced over the final 100m. Interchina Star crossed easily from gate 12 to lead through a slowly run opening quarter mile, kept going an even pace thereafter while straightening a length on top, was headed 200m out and couldn't hold a quinella position over the last 100m. Favourite Quantum Power travelled a handy fifth and one off the fence, straightened four deep and made some ground without menacing off a big weight. Chater D'Cat made his run third from the rear and two deep, cornered with one wider out and passed only beaten runners late. Specked late, Buddy Buddies enjoyed the box-seat run, stayed to the inside upon straightening and didn't offer much under a steady whip. Happy Seven sat outside the leader one off the fence, straightened one off the fence and was coming back to the field over the final 200m with a ton of money late.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (624) - MARS HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650 Meters FLYING CHINA shifted out at the start and bumped CHATER DCAT which became unbalanced.

After this, despite being ridden along, CHATER DCAT failed to muster speed.

A short distance later, FLYING CHINA was crowded for room between CHATER DCAT and ALWAYS SOMETHING which was taken out by LEOS PRIDE which in turn was taken out by QUANTUM POWER.

Approaching the 1400 Metres, HAPPY SEVEN was steadied away from the heels of INTERCHINA STAR (T Clark) which shifted in when not properly clear.

In this incident, BUDDY BUDDIES, which was racing inside HAPPY SEVEN, was momentarily crowded for room.

T Clark will be advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in future.

For some distance approaching and passing the 1200 Metres, QUANTUM POWER was awkwardly placed close to the heels of HAPPY SEVEN.

Throughout the race, ALWAYS SOMETHING travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of BLESSING and HAPPY SEVEN after the race did not show any significant findings.

QUANTUM POWER, JOLLY GOOD and ALWAYS SOMETHING were sent for sampling.
