Recap by phillip woo

Flying Colours settled ahead of midfield and three deep, rounded the final bend five wide, worked to the lead 100m out and held off the late surge of Cerise Cherry for an upset win. Cerise Cherry made his run second from the rear, swung the final bend with one wider out and made up a ton of ground late to make it close for the win while collaring Masquerader in the final stride for second. Masquerader worked to the lead four deep at the 200m and went down fighting in a sound performance with the switch to the dirt and step back in distance. Good Words travelled effectively one-out, one-back with cover, straightened three deep and stayed on reasonably well to lost a placing 50m out. More than halving his quote late, Cheetah Boy settled third from the rear and two off the rails from a wide gate, straightened six deep and was getting going late when the race was all but over. Military Move had trouble staying in touch and was making good progress late without threatening. Dynamic Blitz made his run behind midfield and three deep from a wide gate, cornered with two wider out and passed only beaten runners. Firming favourite, Straight Gold showed some dash six deep early in the straight before coming up flat over the final 150m in his dirt debut. Final Answer was tucked in behind the leaders Blaze King and Horse Galore on the fence, and found nothing over the final 200m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (626) - VENUS HANDICAP - Class 1 - 1200 Meters On arrival at the Start, Z Purton expressed concern over the action of HORSE GALORE.

HORSE GALORE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who, after the necessary consultations, said the horse was suitable to race.

STRAIGHT GOLD began awkwardly.

DYNAMIC BLITZ began very awkwardly.

CHEETAH BOY blundered at the start and then was bumped by FLYING COLOURS which shifted out.

Making the turn near the 700 Metres, CHEETAH BOY and CERISE CHERRY bumped, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced.

In the Straight, CHEETAH BOY got its head on the side and hung out and for some distance after the 300 Metres shifted out and made contact with CERISE CHERRY.

Throughout the race, MASQUERADER travelled wide and without cover.

D Whyte will be afforded the opportunity to explain the disappointing performance of FINAL ANSWER prior to the Sha Tin racemeeting on Saturday, 19 May 2012.

A veterinary inspection of DYNAMIC BLITZ, FINAL ANSWER, HORSE GALORE and STRAIGHT GOLD after the race did not show any significant findings.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that CERISE CHEERY had lost its right front plate.

STRAIGHT GOLD, FLYING COLOURS and CERISE CHERRY were sent for sampling.
