Recap by phillip woo

Mega Castle settled fourth with cover one off the fence, rallied four wide upon straightening and eventually wore down Treasure Glitter in the final few bounds for the win. Treasure Glitter punched the breeze in second, straightened three deep, narrowly poked his head in front at the 50m and lost out in a bob of heads. Young Supreme mustered quickly to lead at the 1,400m after breaking sluggishly, opened up by nearly three lengths at the 600m, rounded the final bend two clear after an uncontested lead and was swamped in the final 50m. Kung Hei Fat Choi peeled into the clear with two wider out at the 400m and got going to fill fourth with late market support. Humongus made his run second from the rear, rounded the final bend five wide, switched into the clear with one wider out at the 300m and made some nice late headway. Real Dragon kept on one-paced with every conceivable chance as the firming favourite. Epee De Hua was restrained in midfield and deep on the course from a wide gate, straightened five wide and plugged on evenly over the final 200m. Good Looking Watch settled behind midfield and three deep with cover, rounded the final bend widest out and gave up the chase 50m when failing to respond.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (638) - QUICKEN AWAY HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1600 Meters SPEEDY WARRIOR was withdrawn on 25.5.12 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter EPEE DE HUA (U Rispoli).

Before being allowed to race again, SPEEDY WARRIOR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

On arrival at the Start, it was noted that YOUNG SUPREME had blood in the mouth.

A veterinary inspection of that horse revealed a small laceration to the tongue.

YOUNG SUPREME was passed suitable to race.

EVER KING was crowded for room at the start between NOBLE TWINS and YOUNG SUPREME which shifted out.

In this incident, NOBLE TWINS became unbalanced after being bumped by EVER KING.

From the outside barrier, FIERY PATROL was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

In the early stages, both YOUNG SUPREME and WORLD WAY proved difficult to settle.

Despite being ridden along in the early stages, EPEE DE HUA was slow to muster speed.

Approaching and passing the 1400 Metres, GOOD LOOKING WATCH proved difficult to settle and over-raced for a short distance.

Passing the 1400 Metres, GRAND GENERAL was steadied away from the heels of MEGA CASTLE (B Prebble) which shifted in when not quite clear.

B Prebble was advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in future.

Throughout the race, PRIMROSE BOY travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.

Also throughout the race, GRAND GENERAL travelled wide and without cover and finished tailed out.

A veterinary inspection of GRAND GENERAL after the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm and also an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, GRAND GENERAL will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
