Recap by phillip woo

Firming favourite Simple was unhurried fourth from the rear and two deep, rounded the final bend with one wider out and quickened nicely to take control 60m out to chalk up a third win from seven starts and first at Happy Valley. He's got the potential to head higher. Sunny Fay missed the break by two lengths and made his run at the rear and along the inside, rounded the final bend six wide, peeled into the clear with one wider out at the 200m and finished up nicely to be a clear second. Specked late, Kick Serve made his run second from the rear and two deep, turned the final bend widest out and overhauled Lucky Record in the final few metres for third. Lucky Record travelled one off the fence in midfield, shifted into the clear five wide at the 200m, briefly moved to second at the 50m and was swamped late for a placing. Silver Osmanthus travelled a prominent fourth and one off the fence behind the cracking speed of Lucky Turbo and Vintage Hussler, straightened three deep and kept on all right to pick up some prize money. Vintage Hussler went toe-to-toe with Lucky Turbo, dropped that one to open nearly two lengths at the 200m and was swamped in the final 50m. Newcomer Jun Ju straightened two deep and kept on one-paced with market support. He'll come on for this run.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (671) - WONG NAI CHUNG GAP HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200 Meters At declaration time, B Prebble was declared as the rider of both SILVER OSMANTHUS and SUNNY FAY.

It was established that B Prebble had a firm commitment to ride SILVER OSMANTHUS.

As such, the Stewards permitted M Zahra to be substituted as the rider of SUNNY FAY.

For this declaration error, B Prebble was fined $2,000.

ELITE OF CHIU TON was withdrawn on 5.6.12 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left hind) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter FRESH AIR (W C Marwing).

PALEPALE was also withdrawn on 5.6.12 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore foot).

Before being allowed to race again, ELITE OF CHIU TON and PALEPALE will both be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

SUNNY FAY was slow to begin.

KICK SERVE was checked when crowded for room shortly after the start between LUCKY TURBO which shifted in and SIMPLE which was taken out by SILVER OSMANTHUS.

Near the 1100 Metres, FRESH AIR momentarily raced in restricted room between MASTER RIO and JUN JU which shifted in.

Near the 850 Metres, FRESH AIR was steadied away from the heels of JUN JU (C W Wong) which shifted in when not properly clear.

C W Wong was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care.

Near the 200 Metres, SUNNY FAY shifted out and bumped KICK SERVE.

Throughout the race, LOADS OF JOY travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of MASTER RIO after the race did not show any significant findings.

SIMPLE and SUNNY FAY were sent for sampling.
