Recap by phillip woo

Mega Champion settled midfield and two deep in the run, rounded the final bend with a couple wider out and finished nicely to take command 60m out for the win. Punted late, Sohna settled behind midfield and two deep, swung the final corner with one wider out and ran on well before peaking on his run 100m out for second. Sunny More was posted three deep ahead of midfield from a wide gate, rushed up to settle on the outside of the leader Win A Dozen at the 800m, ridden out to lead three deep at the 300m, opened nearly two lengths at the 150m and was swamped 50m out. Tom's Eighth made a good bid late to fill the frame in fourth with a move to visors and drop in grade. Favourite Connoisseur's Pick made his run fourth from the rear and along the inside, rounded the final bend with three wider out and eventually got going over the final 100m to get up for a minor pay slip. Punted late, Home With Glory made his run second from the rear and along the inside, stayed one off upon straightening and made some ground without menacing. Travel Guide settled four back and on the rails, shifted one off approaching the final bend, straightened five deep, inconvenienced gallopers shifting in for a clear run at the 150m and kept on evenly thereafter. Win A Dozen assumed the lead from Hurry Hurry Up at the 850m, cornered level for the front with Sunny More and copped a check when fading at the 150m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three: (686) - CHINESE BANYAN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650 Meters Just prior to the start being effected, TOMS EIGHTH got its head down and consequently was slow to begin.

HOME WITH GLORY was slow to begin.

Passing the winning post on the first occasion, TRAVEL GUIDE was steadied away from the heels of MERIDIAN TREASURE which shifted in when barely clear.

When the tempo slowed after the 1100 Metres, RECORD HIGH got its head up on a number of occasions when proving difficult to settle and being awkwardly placed close to the heels of WIN A DOZEN passing the 1000 Metres.

Near the 1000 Metres, MERIDIAN TREASURE raced close to the heels of HURRY HURRY UP.

SUNNY MORE travelled wide and without cover until after the 800 Metres.

Passing the 600 Metres, HOME WITH GLORY was awkwardly placed inside the heels of CONNOISSEURS PICK which got its head on the side and shifted in slightly.

In the early part of the Straight, MERIDIAN TREASURE got its head on the side and lay in towards the heels of HURRY HURRY UP.

Passing the 200 Metres, WIN A DOZEN, HURRY HURRY UP and MERIDIAN TREASURE were all severely checked when crowded for room inside TRAVEL GUIDE which, when endeavouring to improve inside the heels of RECORD HIGH, was taken in by that horse which, when giving ground, got its head on the side and shifted in and away from MEGA CHAMPION which also shifted in slightly.

VILASOL, which was following, was shifted out in consequence.

As the Stewards were of the opinion that there was no rider error involved in this incident, no further action was taken.

After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on WIN A DOZEN at the request of Trainer K L Man.

The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea.

A veterinary inspection of TRAVEL GUIDE after the race did not show any significant findings.

CONNOISSEURS PICK, MEGA CHAMPION and SOHNA were sent for sampling.
