Recap by phillip woo

Fancied late, Dr Super was hustled to lead 1,000m out after breaking slow from a wide gate, cornered in nearly two lengths on top and held on gamely for a fourth win from 10 outings with a return to Sha Tin. Super Goodies settled fifth along the fence, rallied four wide upon straightening and stayed on well for second. Prolific Champion travelled ahead of midfield and three deep, swung the final bend five wide and got up 50m out for a placing. Ultimate Winners was posted behind midfield and three deep from gate 10, rounded the final bend with one wider out and finished up nicely to run down Demon Demon in the final 20m for fourth with the blinkers going on. Demon Demon sat on the back of the speed in second, was still holding second at the 150m and was headed 50m out for a placing. Racing Reward and kept on late with a move to blinkers. Favourite Sunny Fay never fired in a disappointing effort and Highland Dragon was disappointing.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (716) - OI SUEN HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200 Meters DR SUPER was slow to begin.

ALPHA GLORY was crowded for room at the start between SUNNY FAY which shifted out and HAPPY GOAL which, after shifting in of its own accord, shifted ground further when bumped on the hindquarters by ALPHA GLORY.

From the outside barrier, SUPER TIGER was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

In the early stages, HAPPY GOAL got its head on the side and hung in and then throughout the race travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SUNNY FAY, B Prebble stated that after being placed in the barriers, SUNNY FAY became fractious and then jumped awkwardly as the start was effected.

He said he was able to obtain a position in midfield and SUNNY FAY appeared to be suited by the tempo of today's race.

He said at the top of the Straight SUNNY FAY was crowded for room when obtaining a tight run between PROLIFIC CHAMPION and ULTIMATE WINNERS, however, was able to obtain clear running at the 400 Metres.

He said SUNNY FAY came under pressure and despite being steadied away from the heels of ULTIMATE WINNERS near the 100 Metres, the horse, in his opinion, was disappointing.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of HIGHLAND DRAGON, D Whyte stated that from a wide barrier, he was asked to shift HIGHLAND DRAGON across behind runners shortly after the start and obtain a position with cover.

He said in accordance with these instructions he shifted HIGHLAND DRAGON across closer to the rail shortly after the start and HIGHLAND DRAGON enjoyed a good run behind the favourite, SUNNY FAY.

He said HIGHLAND DRAGON travelled satisfactorily in the early and middle stages and when shifted to the outside of runners in the early part of the Straight briefly responded to his riding, however, came under pressure after the 300 Metres at which time the horse got its head on the side and lay in.

He said although HIGHLAND DRAGON proved difficult to ride out for the remainder of the Straight due to hanging in, nonetheless the horse was disappointing in the manner in which it weakened over the final 200 Metres after initially responding well to his riding in the early part of the Straight.

He added that HIGHLAND DRAGON did make a respiratory noise when placed under pressure in the Straight.

A veterinary inspection of SUNNY FAY and HIGHLAND DRAGON after the race did not show any significant findings.

SUNNY FAY, DR SUPER and SUPER GOODIES were sent for sampling.
