Recap by phillip woo

Ray's Favourite sat on the back of the speed in third, switched into the clear three deep at the 300m and ran down Juggernaut in the shadows of the post to continue a remarkable season of four wins and five placings from 11 starts and the firming public choice. Juggernaut was all fired up to dictate the running, was pressured by Billion at the 500m, shook that one off to corner in narrowly on top and stuck on gamely to go down fighting. Specked late, Noble De Best was settled in midfield and two deep, rallied five wide upon straightening and ran on well to take third, though was never getting to the top pair. Blossom Daily made his run in fifth along the fence, stayed to the inside upon straightening and plugged on late to fill the frame a non-threatening fourth. Billion stalked the leader, poked his head narrowly in front at the 500m, cornered three deep in a tussle for the lead and gave up the chase 100m out. Why Not copped a bump off the break and was ridden second from the rear and three deep, swung the final bend with three wider out and made some ground late without threatening in his course debut. El Grande turned the final bend four deep and kept on flat under a hustling ride. Sunny More swung the final bend with two wider out and was never a factor.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (736) - YIU TUNG HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650 Meters WHITE HART KING was withdrawn on 3.7.12 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter YOUNG HERO (W M Lai).

Before being allowed to race again, WHITE HART KING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

BLOSSOM DAILY, which was fractious after being placed in the barriers, was leaning on the inside of its stall as the start was effected and consequently was slow to begin.

WHY NOT and SUNNY MORE were crowded for room at the start between SOHNA and JUGGERNAUT which shifted out.

After this, WHY NOT was taken across behind runners.

From the outside barrier, WEALTH PARK was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

M Du Plessis (JUGGERNAUT) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the winning post on the first occasion he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of EL GRANDE, causing that horse to be checked and lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled.

M Du Plessis was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday, 30 July 2012 on which day he may resume race riding.

The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday, 15 July 2012.

After passing the winning post on the first occasion, WEALTH PARK proved very difficult to settle and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of YOUNG HERO for some distance.

In the Straight, RAYS FAVOURITE got its head on the side and hung in and close to the finishing line raced tight outside JUGGERNAUT which shifted out.

Also in the Straight, EL GRANDE got its head on the side and hung in.

For the majority of the race, SUNNY MORE and SOHNA travelled wide and without cover.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that EL GRANDE had lost its right front plate.

A veterinary inspection of SUNNY MORE and SOHNA after the race did not show any significant findings.

RAYS FAVOURITE and JUGGERNAUT were sent for sampling.
