Recap by phillip woo

Rich Tapestry sat a lot handier in third and one off the fence, swung the final bend four wide and quickly accelerated to take control 150m out for back-to-back wins on the all-weather track. Happy Index sat on the back of the hot pace being issued by Good Boy Boy, turned the final bend with nearly four lengths to make up and stayed on nicely to be a clear second. Favourite Earl Of Leitrim was sluggish off the break and made his run behind midfield and on the rails, was shuffled back further approaching the final bend, cornered with three wider and finished up nicely to be a clear third at the 100m in his first try on the dirt. Euro Swiftly eventually made his run third from the rear and on the fence, straightened two-to-three deep and ran on well to overhaul Good Words in deep stretch for fourth. Good Words settled fifth in midfield along the fence, stayed one off the rails upon straightening, shifted into the clear four deep at the 200m and kept whacking away. He appears to need more ratings relief. Rumba King made his run fourth from the rear and three deep, swung the final bend with one wider out and made some progress. New Glory broke around midfield, before being shuffled back to last at the 800m, cornered in five deep still at the rear and only kept on passed beaten gallopers with late-betting support. Good Boy Boy was struggling 200m out in his first try on the all-weather track. Chater Mikado got himself caught underneath the gates and was a late withdrawal.

Racing Incident Report

Race Ten: (749) - AUSTIN HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1200 Meters SKY MASCOT was withdrawn on 7.7.12 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter EURO SWIFTLY (W M Lai).

Before being allowed to race again, SKY MASCOT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

After being loaded, CHATER MIKADO collapsed.

CHATER MIKADO was consequently withdrawn by order of the Stewards.

This resulted in a significant delay to the start of this race.

EARL OF LEITRIM and EURO SWIFTLY were slow to begin.

From the outside barrier, NEW GLORY was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

Despite being ridden along in the early stages, CHEETAH BOY failed to muster speed and then throughout the race travelled wide and without cover.

PRETTY ONE also travelled wide and without cover throughout the race.

Near the 650 Metres, GOOD WORDS got its head up when proving difficult to settle.

EARL OF LEITRIM, RICH TAPESTRY and HAPPY INDEX were sent for sampling.
