Recap by phillip woo

Soldier crossed over from a wide gate to settle in the box seat behind the muddling pace of Winning Mascot, coasted to the front three deep at the 350m and repelled a challenge 150m out from the late-fancied Glory Of India for an upset victory. Glory Of India bided his time second from the rear, circled the field with a move 600m out and kept on willingly to be a clear second, despite the step back in distance. Alp's Glory travelled behind midfield and two deep, turned the final bend four deep, shifted off heels into the clear at the 300m and ran on well to grab a placing. Theheroinmyheart was short of room upon straightening and eventually got going over the final 250m to grab fourth. Global Fame was briefly held up on the heels of Super Horse while cornering before making some late ground. Shining Treasures was never on the track behind midfield and only made minor progress. Specked late, Telecom Supremo came up one-paced over the final 150m, while favourite Thanksgiving only got a clear run when the race was all over with 150m to go.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (764) - PLANET RULER HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1600 Meters The Stewards deferred the declaration of weighed-in whilst they considered if ISTIDE had been afforded a fair start.

After viewing the official videos, it was ascertained that as the start was effected, ISTIDE became fractious and put its head down, resulting in its rider, M Chadwick, having to support himself by placing his left hand on the side barrier partition.

As the Stewards were satisfied that ISTIDE had been the cause of its own difficulties and as they were of the opinion that ISTIDE had not had an unfair start, the horse was declared a runner.

Before being allowed to race again, ISTIDE will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial.

BLESSING WIN began awkwardly and shortly after the start was checked when crowded for room between ALPS GLORY and GOOD THINKER which began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly.

Because of this, BLESSING WIN raced back in the field.

A short distance after the start, ALPS GLORY shifted in and bumped heavily with THANKSGIVING, resulting in T Clark momentarily losing the use of his left stirrup iron.

Near the 900 Metres, TELECOM SUPREMO was left racing wide and without cover.

Rounding the Home Turn, THANKSGIVING was crowded for room inside GOLDEN OSMANTHUS which got its head on the side and shifted in slightly when commencing to give ground.

THANKSGIVING was then badly held up for clear running until near the 200 Metres when placed behind WINNING MASCOT and inside GOLDEN OSMANTHUS, both of which were giving ground.

BLESSING WIN was not able to obtain clear running until passing the 300 Metres.

A veterinary inspection of WINNING MASCOT, SUPER HORSE and THANKSGIVING after the race did not show any significant findings.

THANKSGIVING, SOLDIER and GLORY OF INDIA were sent for sampling.
