Recap by phillip woo

Supreme Win was possibly suited by the pouring rain on the day. He settled midfield and one off the fence, peeled into the clear with one wider out and quickened well to overhaul Cerise Cherry in the shadows of the post. Cerise Cherry was in no hurry and ridden three deep around midfield, rushed up to sit just outside the leader at the 600m, hit the front with two wider out passing the 300m and was pipped on the line. Early favourite Able Speed showed good gate speed before taking the sit in third and one off the fence, straightened three deep and kept whacking away to snare third in the final 50m. Late-fancied favourite Arrived Ahead pressed forward from the widest gate to assume the lead as expected at the 1,000m, cornered narrowly on top and lost a placing late. He was in need of the outing. Crown Witness was patiently ridden at the rear after a tardy break, swung the final bend widest out and only kept on passed beaten gallopers with late-market support. Flying Blue saved ground along the fence in fourth and found little in the dash to the line. Specked at odds, Cheer made his run second from the rear and along the fence, stayed to the inside upon straightening and was struggling a fair way out.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three: (003) - THE HKSAR CHIEF EXECUTIVE'S CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 1 - 1200 Meters As the start was effected, ARRIVED AHEAD lifted its front feet off the ground and began only fairly.

Over the final 200 Metres, CERISE CHERRY got its head on the side and lay in under pressure.

For the majority of the race, CERISE CHERRY travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned, A Suborics stated that he had been instructed to take up a forward position on CROWN WITNESS.

He said CROWN WITNESS began satisfactorily, however, despite being ridden along did not show any early speed.

He said shortly after the start CROWN WITNESS was inconvenienced by CERISE CHERRY which shifted out.

He said having in mind CROWN WITNESS failure to show early speed, he felt that the horses interests would be better served by shifting it across behind runners rather than continue to ride it along in an attempt to obtain a more forward position and risk racing wide.

He added that having in mind CROWN WITNESS lack of early pace, he believed that the horse would be better suited in races of longer distances than that of the 1200 Metres of todays race.

A veterinary inspection of CROWN WITNESS after the race did not show any significant findings.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that ARRIVED AHEAD had lost its right hind plate.

ARRIVED AHEAD, SUPREME WIN and CERISE CHERRY were sent for sampling.
