Recap by phillip woo

Happy Ceramibo was hard ridden to lead from gate seven, set a strong pace while straightening a length on top and kept finding plenty to score an instant success for his new trainer Danny Shum Chap-shing. Meridian Treasure enjoyed the box-seat run, shifted off the fence for a clear run at the 250m and stayed on nicely ahead of Twin Turbo, who settled two deep behind midfield, switched into the clear with a couple wider out at the 300m and ran on steadily late. China Angel travelled midfield and on the fence, shifted into the clear at the 250m and ran on OK to fill the frame. He appeared to need the run. Always Well whacked away one-paced over the last 100m, while favourite Nightlign made only mild progress. He's better with some give in the ground. Share Of Gold had to work early on from a wide gate to settle second in the run, straightened three deep and gave up the chase. Punted late, Celestialblessings was struggling 200m out after sitting three wide.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (019) - SPOONBILL HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200 Meters Whilst in the stables, SHARE OF GOLD had its left front plate refitted.

SHARE OF GOLD was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.

PERFECT FIT and CHINA ANGEL were hampered at the start by ALWAYS WELL which began awkwardly and shifted in.

From wide barriers, BLESS US ALL and NIGHTLIGN were taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

Despite being ridden along, PERFECT FIT became detached from the field in the early stages and throughout the race remained detached.

The performance of PERFECT FIT, which has previously raced successfully over the distance of today's race, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, PERFECT FIT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Near the 750 Metres, BLESS US ALL got its head on the side and was awkwardly placed inside the heels of TWIN TURBO.

For the majority of the race, NAMJONG TURBO travelled wide and without cover.

C W Wong (MERIDIAN TREASURE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 200 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of SHARE OF GOLD, causing that horse to be crowded for room, to be checked and lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled.

C W Wong was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 27 September 2012 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).

The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting on Wednesday, 19 September 2012.

D Whyte (CHINA ANGEL) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 100 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of BLESS US ALL, resulting in that horse being crowded for room and losing the running to which it was rightfully entitled.

D Whyte was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Tuesday, 2 October 2012 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).

The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday, 23 September 2012.

A veterinary inspection of SHARE OF GOLD after the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of CELESTIALBLESSINGS after the race revealed that the horse had bled from both nostrils.

NIGHTLIGN, HAPPY CERAMIBO and MERIDIAN TREASURE were sent for sampling.
