Recap by phillip woo

Eastern Empire settled second from the rear and one deep at the 1,200m in a race with a good opening split, ranged up four deep approaching the final bend, turned the corner widest out, let down nicely to hit the lead 30m out and just held on from the fast-finishing Yuan's Fortune for the victory. Yuan's Fortune flashed home nicely to make it very tight at the finish. Specked late, Horseshoe Fortune was rated three back along the rails, shifted out from a wall of horses five deep at the 300m and got up in the final few metres to snare third from favourite Ray's Favourite advanced four deep at the 600m, hit the lead three deep at the 150m and was swamped late. Kensworth Kid eventually settled three back and one off the fence outside Horseshoe Fortune, made his move four deep at the 600m, swung the final bend with one wider out and came out one-paced over the final 150m. Well-punted late, Perfect Joy came up flat over the last 100m with a step up to the mile after a dirt failure on the weekend at Sha Tin. Go Lucky Go settled behind midfield and on the fence, came out three deep approaching the final turn, straightened with three wider out and never did fire. Heartland went too quickly while pestered on the speed by Smart Fortune, was headed soon after straightening by Perfect Joy and was stopping badly 250m out with the step up to a mile.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (030) - TSZ LOK HANDICAP (Sec 2) - Class 4 - 1650 Meters In the early stages, HEARTLAND proved difficult to settle and near the 900 Metres shifted out, resulting in SMART FORTUNE being inconvenienced.

For some distance approaching and passing the 500 Metres, KENSWORTH KID and RAY'S FAVOURITE raced tight and made contact on several occasions as RAY'S FAVOURITE shifted to the outside of SMART FORTUNE as KENSWORTH KID was improving to its outside.

After the 500 Metres, PERFECT JOY was held up for clear running until the entrance to the Straight.

Shortly after entering the Straight, HORSESHOE FORTUNE shifted out away from the heels of SMART FORTUNE to obtain clear running.

In the Straight, RAY'S FAVOURITE got its head on the side and lay in under pressure.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that SMART FORTUNE had lost its left front plate.

A veterinary inspection of GO LUCKY GO after the race did not show any significant findings other than the horse had lost its left front plate.
