Recap by phillip woo

Polygold was rated in midfield and one off the fence, rallied five wide upon straightening and finished nicely to get up in the final 10m for the win on the back of a promising fourth on opening day. Mount Victory bided his time second from the rear, was under urging approaching the final bend, turned the corner with three wider out and was finishing up strongly late to make it a tight one at the finish. Full Version settled behind midfield and two deep, swung the final bend with two wider out and ran on nicely with a step up to the mile off a failure last Wednesday over the 1,200m. Scent of Osmanthus was swamped very late for a placing as the firming favourite for his new trainer Caspar Fownes. He looks capable of getting away with a race at this level this term. Lucky Army made his run third from the rear, pushed widest out upon straightening and was finishing up nicely, before hitting a flat spot over the last 100m. Young Supreme was giving ground over the final 150m. Kung Hei Fat Choi travelled ahead of midfield and on the fence, cornered four deep and gave up the chase over the last 100m after failing to find anything under the left whip.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (032) - WAH FU HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1650 Meters After being loaded, POLYGOLD became fractious and broke through the front gates prior to the start being effected.

POLYGOLD was quickly restrained, returned to the barriers and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.

Before being allowed to race again, POLYGOLD will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.

REDOUTE'S FORTUNE began awkwardly.

Passing the winning post on the first occasion, KUNG HEI FAT CHOI raced tight inside SCENT OF OSMANTHUS which got its head on the side and lay in.

POLYGOLD, which was racing behind KUNG HEI FAT CHOI, shifted out away from the heels of that horse and bumped FULL VERSION.

Near the 1300 Metres, KUNG HEI FAT CHOI momentarily raced in restricted room inside SCENT OF OSMANTHUS which itself raced tight inside SURE FORWARD which throughout the race travelled wide and without cover.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that EKRAAR EMPEROR had lost its right front plate.

Also after the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that REALLY THE BEST had blood present at its right nostril.

He said an endoscopic examination confirmed the horse'S trachea to be clean and as such was not deemed to be an official bleeder.

A veterinary inspection of KUNG HEI FAT CHOI after the race did not show any significant findings.
