Recap by phillip woo

Firming favourite Castle Hero travelled up on the speed in the middle of the course from gate one, raced to the lead 300m out and edged clear for a nice win. Ride On The Fire showed good pace to settle second in the run and two off the stands side and plugged on gamely. Jun Ju settled at the rear and finished up nicely to grab third in the last 80m. It was an eye-catching run and he appears to be coming to hand with five runs now under his belt. Bould Mover was handy in the run and three off the stands side and kept on OK. Moneymaker travelled outside and just behind Castle Hero, was left without cover on the far side at the 400m and stayed on well. Specked late, Confucius Elite was asked for an effort at the halfway marker and responded OK while switching to the outside at the 100m. Oriental Prosper was stopping when placed under pressure 250m out. Flying Smart was one-paced when asked to respond at the 400m and was giving way 300m out. Keen Tactics was under pressure 400m out and never fired in a disappointing run for his new trainer Manfred Man Ka-leung.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (058) - SHANGHAI HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000 Meters CONFUCIUS ELITE began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of FLYING SMART.

After the race, B Prebble stated that the disappointing performance of FLYING SMART could be attributed predominantly to the track as he formed the opinion that it was reluctant to stretch out on today's surface.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that CASTLE HERO had bled from both nostrils.

A veterinary inspection of FLYING SMART, ORIENTAL PROSPER and KEEN TACTICS after the race did not show any significant findings.

CASTLE HERO and RIDE ON THE FIRE were sent for sampling.
