Recap by phillip woo

The Prince was hard ridden to lead at all costs from gate 10, straightened over a length on top and kept finding to easily hold the favourite Dapper Boy for the win. Late-fancied favourite, Dapper Boy was last into stride, before recovering to settle midfield and one off the fence at the 800m, straightened three deep and peaked on his move 100m out. He needs to correct his start, but won't be far off a win. Heartland enjoyed the box seat and stayed on well along the inside to grab third with a return to Sha Tin off a couple of failures at Happy Valley. Golden Gunners settled behind midfield and on the fence, straightened three to four deep and ran on nicely to just take fourth ahead of Fulgurite in an encouraging debut. Fulgurite was caught five wide up on the speed from a wide gate, before easing back to settle three deep outside Dapper Boy at the 800m, cornered in with three wider out and stuck on well in a nice return to racing. Nightlign made some ground late without menacing. Holyangelholy peaked 100m out with the blinkers added. Ming Hoi Glory and Bear Elite showed nothing.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (060) - CHENGDU HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200 Meters On arrival at the barriers, the tongue tie fitted to GOLDEN GUNNERS was replaced.

THE PRINCE began awkwardly.

DAPPER BOY was slow to begin.

MING HOI GLORY began very awkwardly, shifted out abruptly at the start and in doing so made contact with GOLDEN GUNNERS, resulting in that horse being taken out onto TREASURE MAN which was crowded for room inside HEARTLAND.

After this, despite being ridden along, MING HOI GLORY failed to muster speed.

Near the 1300 Metres, DAPPER BOY was bumped by HOLYANGELHOLY which shifted in.

For some distance after the 700 Metres, MING HOI GLORY got its head on the side and hung out.

Rounding the Home Turn, NIGHTLIGN was bumped by SHAREMA FEELING which shifted out.

Throughout the race, SOLAR UP travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of BEAR ELITE, M Chadwick stated that he had ridden the horse in its final gallop leading into today's race and, in his opinion, that work had been good.

He said he was able to obtain a position behind the speed as instructed in the early stages and BEAR ELITE travelled strongly after this.

He said rounding the Home Turn BEAR ELITE gave him the impression that it would account for THE PRINCE which was leading and ultimately was successful, however, BEAR ELITE came under pressure shortly after entering the Straight and, despite being ridden along, did not close off the race as expected.

He said after the race BEAR ELITE's action felt comfortable and he was not able to offer any excuse for the horse's disappointing run.

A veterinary inspection of BEAR ELITE after the race did not show any significant findings.

THE PRINCE and DAPPER BOY were sent for sampling.
