Recap by phillip woo

Packing OK travelled nicely in fifth along the fence, came off the paint at the 350m and wore down leader Aashiq 100m out for the win. He goes well fresh and will be one to keep safe over a mile to 1,800m. Aashiq led at a good clip as expected, straightened nearly two lengths on top and found one better on the day. Specked late, Helene Spirit was taken back from a wide gate, straightened three deep with a lot of work ahead, but finished up nicely to inject value to the tierce, despite a step up in grade. He may have a bit more up his sleeve. Beauty Flash made his run behind midfield and two-to-three deep, swung the final bend with a couple wider out and finished up well. Admiration settled third from the rear and along the fence, stayed to the inside upon straightening and made some ground without menacing off a big weight. Dominant wasn't rushed, cornered in six deep and made a decent bid late. He's definitely looking for a mile or further. Destined For Glory settled second from the rear and two deep, swung the final bend widest out and only kept passed beaten gallopers. Flying Blue whacked away one-paced. Plunged late, Voile Rouge is not up to this grade.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (061) - THE NATIONAL DAY CUP (HANDICAP) - Hong Kong Group Three - 1400 Meters ADMIRATION was slow to begin and shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of PENGLAI XIANZI which shifted in.

After the 900 Metres, SUPREME WIN and VOILE ROUGE were taken wider by PENGLAI XIANZI which shifted out away from the rail after being crossed by AASHIQ.

After this, VOILE ROUGE and SUPREME WIN both travelled wide and without cover.

FAIR TRADE made the first turn near the 850 Metres awkwardly.

Near the 50 Metres, M Chadwick (BEAUTY FLASH) dropped his left rein.

When questioned, B Prebble (ADMIRATION) stated that after being slow to begin, his mount then shifted out towards the heels of PENGLAI XIANZI which also shifted in.

He said in this incident ADMIRATION became unbalanced and gave him the impression that it may have overreached.

He said he rode ADMIRATION along after this and the horse was able to obtain a position about midfield by the first turn.

He said ADMIRATION travelled only fairly and came under pressure after the 600 Metres to improve its position.

He said he was required to use the whip on the horse rounding the Home Turn in an endeavour to have it finish off the race and, in his opinion, considering the manner in which ADMIRATION travelled throughout the race, the horse finished off the race satisfactorily.

A veterinary inspection of ADMIRATION, SUPREME WIN and VOILE ROUGE after the race did not show any significant findings.

ADMIRATION, PACKING OK and AASHIQ were sent for sampling.
