Recap by phillip woo

Shiny Day allowed Cartoon Fay Fay to head him at the 1,200m, reclaimed the front at the 400m, opened up a length advantage upon straightening and kept finding to score well. Endowing travelled fourth along the fence, straightened near three deep, ducked underneath Shiny Day for a clear run at the 250m and peaked 50m out after looming a win chance at the 150m. He has quickly come to hand off two starts and won't be far off a victory. Fortune Winner made his run third from the rear and three deep after bungling the start, circled the field four deep at the 1,000m to reach third entering the straight and kept on well, despite the circumstances. Hear The Roar settled second from the rear and two deep, peeled into the clear widest out upon straightening and made a decent bid late to get up for fourth. Victory Mascot was patiently ridden at the tail of the field from gate 12, took off around horses at the 1,100m, cornered in with one wider out and stayed on reasonably well. Tres Magnifique eventually settled fifth and one off the fence, cornered in five deep and boxed on in the drive to the line. Soldier was under pressure entering the straight five wide and kept on evenly over the last 200m with a ton of money coming on late.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (079) - THE IRELAND TROPHY (HANDICAP) - Class 3 - 1800 Meters On arrival at the barriers, the tongue tie carried by FORTUNE WINNER was replaced.

FORTUNE WINNER, which was fractious in the barriers, lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and consequently was slow to begin.

From the outside barrier, VICTORY MASCOT was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

Shortly after the start, HEAR THE ROAR blundered when badly crowded for room between ENDOWING and CIRCUIT STAR which got its head on the side and shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.

In this incident, HEAR THE ROAR bumped the hindquarters of ENDOWING, causing that horse to become unbalanced.

Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, CARTOON FAY FAY was left racing wide and without cover and near the 1200 Metres was allowed to stride forward to obtain a position closer to the rail.

Near the 800 Metres, CIRCUIT STAR got its head up and proved difficult to settle when racing close to the heels of TRES MAGNIFIQUE which itself was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SOLDIER which was being steadied after being taken wider by SHINY DAY which shifted away from the fence after the 1000 Metres.

LUCKY CHOICE and FORTUNE WINNER, which were following, were hampered in consequence.

Shortly after entering the Straight, ENDOWING was shifted to the inside of the heels of SHINY DAY to obtain clear running.

Close to the finishing line, ENDOWING was steadied away from the heels of SHINY DAY (T H So) which shifted in.

T H So was warned for allowing his mount to shift ground when not showing due care and attention.

A veterinary inspection of SOLDIER after the race did not show any significant findings.

HEAR THE ROAR, SHINY DAY and ENDOWING were sent for sampling.
