Recap by phillip woo

Solar Up dictated the running, was pestered by What A Heart at the 800m, straightened a half-length on top, opened up by near two lengths at the 250m and out-duelled O'Halo over the final 150m for a narrow win. Firming late to jump favourite, O'Halo was prominently ridden in the run three deep in fourth, cornered in four deep, appeared to draw nearly level at the 100m and fought on gamely to just miss. Punted late, New Asia Rising bided his time third from the rear and one off the fence, straightened three deep and was finishing up best of all late to grab a placing. He's overdue for a win. Early favourite, What A Heart rushed forward to settle one off the fence in second, cornered in three deep with every chance and was yielding ground over the last 100m while just holding fourth from newcomer Medic Kingdom, who whacked on one-paced after a box-seat run. Happy Homing was settled at the rear from an outside gate, pushed widest out upon straightening and was running on late without menacing. Always Well settled midfield and two deep, cornered in five wide and kept up a steady gallop late without menacing. Touch Well was giving ground over the last 200m in another disappointing performance.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three: (095) - MOUNT CAMERON HANDICAP (Sec 2) - Class 4 - 1200 Meters WHAT A HEART began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped HAPPY HOMING.

For some distance after the start, WHAT A HEART was bumped on a number of occasions when racing tight between HAPPY HOMING which itself was racing tight inside PETIT PRINCE and NEW ASIA RISING which was taken out by NOVEL START which after initially taken out by INVINCIBLE HEART shifted ground of its own accord.

After this, HAPPY HOMING was taken across behind runners.

Shortly after the start, NOVEL START, when racing wide, was taken across behind runners to obtain a position closer to the rail.

After the 700 Metres, O!|HALO was left racing wide and without cover.

Rounding the Home Turn, NEW ASIA RISING was momentarily held up for clear running.

Throughout the race, PETIT PRINCE travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of TOUCH WELL, Y T Cheng stated that although his mount was not proving difficult to settle in the early stages, the horse got its head up on a number of occasions.

He said making the first turn at the 700 Metres TOUCH WELL shifted out and bumped O!|HALO and after this came off the bridle.

He said despite being ridden along, TOUCH WELL did not respond to his riding in the Straight and did not close off the race.

A veterinary inspection of TOUCH WELL after the race did not show any significant findings.

SOLAR UP and O!|HALO were sent for sampling.
