Recap by phillip woo

Kharu enjoyed the run of the race in third along the fence, worked to the lead three deep at the 250m and kept up a solid gallop to easily fend off the Yuan's Fortune for a nice win. Yuan's fortune settled midfield and on the rails, ducked underneath a tiring Handsome Batchelor at the 300m and finished up well to take second. He had no trouble with the 1,800m and won't be far off a win. Burgundy Mac settled behind midfield and on the rails, switched into the clear widest out upon straightening and was hitting the line with purpose in a positive effort with a switch to Happy Valley. Secretary Of State was ridden to hold a position second from the rear and along the rails after breaking from gate 10, stayed to the inside upon straightening, worked to third at the 150m and kept on well to just miss a placing. Favourite Hei Hei Posh drove forward without cover from midfield to settle one off the fence in second at the 1,000m, nearly drew level at the 200m and gave up after the tough run over the last 100m. Horseshoe Fortune settled at the rear and two deep, rounded the final bend five wide and made some ground without menacing. Regal Army settled midfield and two deep, swung the final bend with two wider out and kept on one-paced. Plunged late, Handsome Batchelor was given an easy time on the lead but was stopping 250m out. Sichuan Legend was never a factor.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three: (103) - SAU MAU PING HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1800 Meters GLORY OF INDIA was withdrawn on 19.10.12 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice [lame right fore (foot injury)].

Before being allowed to race again, GLORY OF INDIA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

HEI HEI POSH began awkwardly and then in the early stages was left racing wide and without cover and after the 1200 Metres was allowed to stride forward to race outside the lead.

Shortly after entering the Straight, YUAN's FORTUNE was shifted in to obtain clear running.

When questioned regarding the performance of SICHUAN LEGEND, Y T Cheng stated that he had to ride his mount along throughout the race to maintain its position.

He said approaching the 1100 Metres he rode SICHUAN LEGEND aggressively to improve its position so as to avoid being taken wider, however, SICHUAN LEGEND was not able to improve its position and consequently was taken into a three wide position by BURGUNDY MAC which shifted away from the rail.

He said he continued to ride SICHUAN LEGEND along to improve its position and after the 800 Metres was left racing without cover.

He said he rode SICHUAN LEGEND along vigorously for the remainder of the race, however, SICHUAN LEGEND did not respond to his riding and was disappointing.

He added although SICHUAN LEGEND had previously run 4th at Happy Valley, he advised connections that, in his opinion, the horse may be better suited by racing at Sha Tin.

A veterinary inspection of SICHUAN LEGEND after the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of after HANDSOME BATCHELOR after the race did not show any significant findings.

KHARU and YUAN's FORTUNE were sent for sampling.
