Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Solar Great was nicely rated in fifth and one off the fence, cornered in four deep, wanted to lay inside the 400m, quickened to hit the lead 250m out and coasted home well in hand for his new trainer David Hall. He hs returned an improved galloper following some leg issues in June and looks capable of holding his own in the next grade. Heartland enjoyed a dream run on the back of the speed, pushed three deep upon straightening and stayed on a nicely for second. No Ties was ridden along early on to hold a position in midfield and on the rails, was under pressure rounding the final bend, switched off a tiring Perfect Hedge at the 150m and ran on well to hold Magical Beam for third with money pouring in late. Magical Beam made his run behind midfield and just off the rails, straightened four deep, shifted into the clear with two wider out at the 250m and finished up well in an encouraging effort for his new conditioner Andreas Schutz. China Angel kept on one-paced with every chance. Perfect Hedge vied for the lead with Speechmaker, kicked a length clear at the 400m and faded over the final 150m. Champion Ranger made some late ground without looking a threat. Specked late, Sydney Power needs a longer trip.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (130) - SUN WUI HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200 Meters UNDOUBTEDLY MINE and INFINITE COURAGE were checked when crowded for room at the start between CHINA ANGEL which shifted in and MAGICAL BEAM (M Chadwick) which shifted out.

M Chadwick was advised to ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from causing interference.

CHAMPION RANGER was slow to begin and then shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of NO TIES.

From the outside barrier, SYDNEY POWER was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

Making the first turn near the 900 Metres, CHAMPION RANGER shifted in towards the running rail and became unbalanced.

UNDOUBTEDLY MINE, which was following, was inconvenienced in consequence.

Approaching the 700 Metres, CHAMPION RANGER was awkwardly placed inside the heels of MAGICAL BEAM.

Passing the 700 Metres, SYDNEY POWER got its head up on a number of occasions when awkwardly placed close to the heels of CHINA ANGEL.

Near the 200 Metres, CHAMPION RANGER was shifted in away from the heels of NO TIES which at this time was steadied and shifted to the outside of PERFECT HEDGE to obtain clear running.

Over the concluding stages, CHAMPION RANGER got its head on the side and shifted in towards SPEECHMAKER.

Throughout the race, NOVEL START travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.

A veterinary inspection of SPEECHMAKER after the race did not show any significant findings other than the horse was confirmed to be a "roarer" which had previously been reported.

SOLAR GREAT and HEARTLAND were sent for sampling.
