Recap by phillip woo

Plunged late, Maelstrom vied for the lead with Matsukaze, opened up two lengths by the 200m and held on gamely with a step up to 1,400m. Turbo Jewellery settled behind midfield and two deep, swung the final bend widest out and let down nicely to get up in the final stride for second in an encouraging debut performance. Winning Bear settled behind midfield and on the rails after a sluggish break, stayed to the inside upon straightening, worked to second at the 100m and was caught late on the line in a much-improved second-up performance. Supreme Genki stayed on evenly with every chance. Forza was posted without cover three deep in midfield, turned the final bend with one wider out and was grinding away late. Double Moon was doing his best work late with a step up to 1,400m. He's improving and may even want a mile. Young Talent cornered in five wide with every chance and came up empty over the final 150m in a disappointing performance with a move to blinkers.
