Recap by phillip woo

Viva Dolphin was hustled to lead at the 1,000m, hit the top of the straight a length on top from Dashing Ace and kicked clear at the 300m to score a smart win with a ton of money to make him the starting favourite. Specked late, Dars Auto settled behind midfield and on the fence, came one off upon straightening and finished up well to get up for second in the last 100m in an improved performance with a move to the dirt. Take The Rap settled fourth in the run and one off the fence, pushed four deep upon straightening, worked to second at the 150m and kept on gamely to hold a placing. Barcelona Too was hard ridden early on to hold a position on the back of the speed along the fence in third, stayed to the paint upon straightening and kept on well in an improved effort with a move to the dirt. Daily Double made some progress without menacing. Just Good was hitting the line with plenty of purpose from the back. He was not suited by the track conditions. Planet made his run outside Daily Double in midfield, cornered in six deep and was plodding over the final 200m. Dashing Ace was stopping 150m out and was later declared to have had blood in his trachea.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (204) - NATHAN HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200 Meters HONEY FORTUNE was withdrawn on 30.11.12 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame both fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter FASTPLUS MASTER (O Doleuze).

Before being allowed to race again, HONEY FORTUNE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

JUST GOOD was slow to begin.

WINNER SMART and VIVA DOLPHIN were crowded for room at the start between NICKU and BARCELONA TOO which shifted out after beginning awkwardly.

In this incident, WINNER SMART lost ground.

Near the 900 Metres, BARCELONA TOO was steadied away from the heels of VIVA DOLPHIN (U Rispoli) which shifted in when not quite clear.

U Rispoli was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in future.

In the early part of the Straight, DAILY DOUBLE and PLANET raced tight as DAILY DOUBLE shifted out to obtain clear running.

Throughout the race, SMART FORTUNE travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of WINNER SMART, G Mossm said that the horse was obliged to race further back in the field than had been intended after it was hampered at the start.

He said after being obliged to race back in the field, WINNER SMART, despite being ridden along vigorously, did not show any early speed and failed to travel comfortably at any stage of the race.

A veterinary inspection of WINNER SMART after the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of DASHING ACE including an endoscopic examination after the race showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea and it had lost its left front plate.

Before being allowed to race again, DASHING ACE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

VIVA DOLPHIN and DARS AUTO were sent for sampling.
