Recap by phillip woo

Happy Index kept going forward from gate 11 to eventually lead at the 700m, swung the final bend two lengths on top and found enough to hold off the late surge of Cosmic Boom to notch a fifth win from seven starts on this surface and trip. Cosmic Boom was taken back to settle second from the rear from the widest gate, swung the final bend furthest out and finished up willingly in his dirt debut. He's run well in both starts over the 1,200m this term and will be hard to deny next time out on either surface from a better gate. Amigo settled behind midfield and three deep, swung the final bend with two further out and finished up nicely to get into a place spot with some late-market action. Masquerader was posted four deep and back to a position third from the rear after a check at the 500m, swung the final bend with one deeper out and stayed on well to grab fourth in the final few strides. Horse Galore showed speed before assuming the sit in third and one off the fence, moved to second four deep at the 200m and was swamped inside the last 100m. Firming late to jump favourite, Lord Sinclair settled a handy fifth and one off the fence, straightened five wide and was only plodding when asked for an effort over the final 200m. Well-punted late, G-One Winning settled third from the rear and one off the fence, rallied four wide upon straightening and never a factor in his dirt debut.

Racing Incident Report

Race Ten: (249) - CHEK KENG HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1200 Meters KING MOSSMAN shifted out at the start and bumped MASQUERADER.

From wide barriers, COSMIC BOOM and G-ONE WINNING were taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

Rounding the turn after the 700 Metres, MASQUERADER got its head on the side and shifted in towards the heels of LORD SINCLAIR.

After this, MASQUERADER was awkwardly placed close to the heels of LORD SINCLAIR for some distance.

MASQUERADER was then shifted out away from the heels of LORD SINCLAIR and consequently travelled wide and without cover.

Near the 600 Metres, HORSE GALORE got its head on the side and shifted out.

A short distance later, HORSE GALORE and SKY MASCOT bumped as SKY MASCOT shifted out to obtain clear running between HORSE GALORE and KING MOSSMAN.

Shortly after entering the Straight, HANDSOME HANDSOME was shifted out away from the heels of SKY MASCOT.

G-ONE WINNING had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight.

Throughout the race, LORD SINCLAIR travelled wide and without cover.

After the race, Z Purton, the rider of FAT CHOY HONG KONG, reported that the horse was making an abnormal breathing noise after crossing the finishing line.

The Veterinary Officer reported that an endoscopic examination of FAT CHOY HONG KONG after the race did not reveal any significant findings, however, the horse was found to be lame in the right front leg.

Before being allowed to race again, FAT CHOY HONG KONG will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of G-ONE WINNING after the race revealed the horse to have bled from both nostrils.

LORD SINCLAIR, HAPPY INDEX and COSMIC BOOM were sent for sampling.
