Recap by phillip woo

Perfect Hedge enjoyed the gun run in third along the fence, stretched out well to take control 150m out to land a betting move. Safari Magic travelled in second from gate 12, worked to the lead at the 300m and kept on nicely. He's ready to strike. Five Stars Hotel settled midfield and one off the fence outside the favourite Caga Spirit, was shoved into a three deep position at the 600m, cornered with one wider out and beat that one for third. Caga Spirit settled midfield and on the rails, came one off at the 600m, cornered five wide and stayed on well to just miss a placing. China Angel rolled forward from gate eight to lead passing the 1,200m, cornered a length on top and gave way over the final 100m. Well-punted late, Champion Ranger was posted three deep in fourth, swung the final bend six deep and came up flat over the last 150m. Positive Vibration stumbled out of the gate and was never a factor.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (245) - TSAM CHUK WAN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400 Meters Whilst in the saddling stalls, PERFECT HEDGE had its left front plate refitted.

PERFECT HEDGE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.

POSITIVE VIBRATION bounded in the air at the start and consequently lost ground.

AMBITIOUS TREASURE was slow to begin.

LIFE OF BEAUTY began awkwardly and shortly after the start was crowded for room between PERFECT HEDGE and CITY OF LIGHTS which was taken out by SEA FURY.

Passing the 1000 Metres, CAGA SPIRIT was awkwardly placed close to the heels of NOTUS.

For a considerable distance after this, CAGA SPIRIT got its head up and proved very difficult to settle.

At the 400 Metres, PERFECT HEDGE shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of SAFARI MAGIC which became unbalanced.

After this, PERFECT HEDGE was steadied and shifted out across the heels of SAFARI MAGIC to obtain clear running.

Throughout the race, CHAMPION RANGER travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned, Apprentice K C Ng (CHINA ANGEL) stated that he had been instructed to obtain a position in about 4th or 5th if possible.

He said after having to ride CHINA ANGEL positively to clear runners to his inside, he then attempted to steady CHINA ANGEL with a view to obtaining cover, however, CHINA ANGEL commenced to over-race and was inclined to lay out.

He said this resulted in CHINA ANGEL leading which had not been intended.

After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on MY WORD at the request of Trainer P Osullivan.

The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, MY WORD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

CAGA SPIRIT, PERFECT HEDGE and SAFARI MAGIC were sent for sampling.
