Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Mr Ginger was perfectly rated third and one off the fence, forged to a narrow lead at the 300m out and just held off the late surge of the firming second favourite Ultimate Winners to chalk up win number two from five starts with a return to the turf after a dull all-weather track effort. Ultimate Winners was under the whip to pick up after breaking slowly to eventually settle fourth from the rear and along the inside, swung the final bend with two wider out and was eating up the ground to make it close at the finish. Ride On The Fire eventually cleared to lead from gate eight, set a genuine pace while cornering two lengths on top and kept on gamely when headed to hold Supreme Flight for third. Supreme Flight settled three back and one off the fence, straightened four deep and had every chance to fill a placing. Gold Edition was posted three deep without cover in fourth and stayed on evenly over the final 150m. My Goal settled at the rear from an outside gate, straightened five wide and made some ground late. O'Halo made his run one off the fence and second from the rear, swung the final bend widest out and only kept on passed beaten gallopers with a return to the turf. Slick Bullet came up flat when asked for an effort.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three: (308)-JOCKEY CLUB ROAD HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200 Metres LEELIS STAR and MR GINGER bumped at the start.

ULTIMATE WINNERS began only fairly and then shortly after the start was momentarily crowded for room between LEELIS STAR and SUPREME FLIGHT which shifted in.

After this, despite being vigorously ridden along, ULTIMATE WINNERS was slow to muster speed.

From a wide barrier, MY GOAL was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

SUNSHINE KID was ridden along in the early stages, however, failed to muster speed and consequently was taken across behind runners after the 1100 Metres.

Making the first turn after the 900 Metres, SUPER GOAL ELITE got its head on the side and shifted out and near the 800 Metres was awkwardly placed inside the heels of RIDE ON THE FIRE.

Near the 500 Metres, MR GINGER and GOLD EDITION bumped.

Both SUPER GOAL ELITE and SLICK BULLET made the Home Turn awkwardly.

Throughout the race, GOLD EDITION travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned, M L Yeung stated that he had been instructed to ride OHALO quietly from the outside barrier and to ensure that he was able to obtain cover.

He said it was anticipated that todays race would be run at a strong tempo as a number of horses engaged in the event had shown considerable speed in their previous races.

After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on ULTIMATE WINNERS at the request of Trainer C W Chang.

The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, ULTIMATE WINNERS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

MR GINGER and ULTIMATE WINNERS were sent for sampling.
