Recap by phillip woo

Aomen rolled forward three deep to lead through sedate fractions rounding the first bend, cornered near three lengths on top and cruised home well in hand with late-market support. Beauty Flash changed his running style to settle on the back of the speed in second and then back to third at the 1,000m, worked to second one off at the 200m and kept on gamely. Plunged late to start favourite, Rainbow Chic settled at the tail of the field, pushed into the clear with one wider out upon straightening and came home strongly to take third. It was a big run in defeat on the back of a slow pace. Alibiceleste grudgingly gave way late in a pleasing debut effort. Supreme Win settled effectively one-out, one-back, straightened four deep and kept on evenly without ever looking a threat. Mighty High shifted into the clear five deep at the 200m and only held his ground in the dash to the wire. Familists settled behind midfield and on the rails, stayed to the inside upon straightening and made some ground early straight, before coming up flat over the last 100m. Early favourite, Little Dreams made his run third from the rear, swung the final bend with two wider out and never did let down. Best Win broke down passing the 200m. Fat Choy Oohlala was withdrawn at the gate.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (422)-CHEONG MING HANDICAP - Class 1 - 1650Metres

After being loaded, FAT CHOY OOHLALA became fractious and got both hind legs over the back gates.

FAT CHOY OOHLALA was removed from the stalls and examined by the Veterinary Officer who reported the horse to have sustained a wound over its left hind cannon and to be lame in that leg and as such was not suitable to race.

Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of FAT CHOY OOHLALA.

The field was unloaded from the stalls and the start of the race delayed.

Before being allowed to race again, FAT CHOY OOHLALA will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

RAINBOW CHIC began awkwardly.

WINNING EDGE and BEST WIN were taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

Despite being vigorously ridden along in the early stages, ENABLING failed to muster speed.

Passing the 1500 Metres, WINNING EDGE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of LITTLE DREAMS.

Passing the 1400 Metres, ALBICELESTE was left racing wide and without cover and approaching the 1200 Metres was allowed to stride into a more forward position closer to the rail.

After the 1000 Metres, BEST WIN was left racing wide and without cover.

At the 500 Metres, MIGHTY HIGH was checked away from the heels of BEAUTY FLASH whilst at the same point ENABLING was checked away from the heels of SUPREME WIN.

Rounding the Home Turn, WINNING EDGE became badly unbalanced when bumped by RAINBOW CHIC (R Fourie) which shifted out away from the heels of LITTLE DREAMS to improve after being awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse.

R Fourie was reprimanded and advised to exercise care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.

Near the 200 Metres, BEST WIN broke down and collapsed, resulting in its rider, W M Lai, being dislodged.

After the race, W M Lai was examined by the Clubs medical officers and passed fit to fulfil his remaining riding engagement.

A veterinary inspection of FAMILISTS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of WINNING EDGE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped.

RAINBOW CHIC, AOMEN and BEAUTY FLASH were sent for sampling.
