Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Viva Guy proved too classy with a drop in grade to register a fifth career win over this Valley trip. He was hustled early on to hold a position in fifth along the inside, stayed on the fence upon straightening, hit the front 200m out and kept on gamely. Punted late, Lucky Army settled behind midfield and on the rails, pushed widest out upon straightening and was full of run to get up 50m out for second. Young Supreme settled fourth and one off the rails, rallied five wide upon straightening, went to second at the 150m and kept plugging on evenly over the final 100m for a minor placing. East Ocean settled at the tail of the field, straightened three deep, switched into clear running in the six path and finished up well to finish just outside the placings. O'Reilly Magic made his run fourth from the rear and one off the rails, shifted into the open with two wider out at the 250m and was running on steadily late. King On Earth settled midfield and one off the rails, turned the final bend with three wider out and kept on one-paced over the final 150m when asked for an effort with every chance. Specked late, Idyllic Wind led early before enjoying the box-seat run, straightened one off with every chance and was giving way over the final 150m.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (435)-WAN CHAI GAP HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1650Metres

LUCKY ARMY began awkwardly.

After bumping EAST OCEAN on jumping, BRILLIANT LIGHT was buffeted for room between that horse and WINNER SMART for some distance after the start.

From the outside barrier, FULL SPIRIT was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

Shortly after the start, WINNER SMART was also taken across behind runners.

After the 1100 Metres, WINNER SMART commenced to travel keenly and got its head up for a short distance.

Rounding the Home Turn, FLORA DANICA became unbalanced when bumped by IDYLLIC WIND (M Chadwick) which attempted to shift out from behind BILLION which itself got its head on the side and was laying out.

M Chadwick was reprimanded and advised that he must show more care and attention than he did on this occasion when attempting to obtain clear running.

Throughout the race, BRILLIANT LIGHT travelled wide and without cover and prior to the 500 Metres commenced to give ground and finished tailed out.

The performance of BRILLIANT LIGHT was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, BRILLIANT LIGHT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of FLORA DANICA and FULL SPIRIT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

VIVA GUY and LUCKY ARMY were sent for sampling.
